I just purchased a used 1997 GS500E that sat outside in the weather for over a year!  It is now up and running after considerable work to the carbs, tank and everything rubber.  At some point in the past someone drilled out the stock muffler and there are now 4 holes in the back.  I am not sure if there was a baffle there that has now been removed or if they just drilled holes.  Either way it is now quite loud and I would like to attempt to "repair" it if that is possible so it is quiet again so I can think about riding instead of how much my ears hurt (even with earplugs).  Anyone here know what has been done to the muffler and if there is a baffle now removed how I go about finding a replacement?

There is a baffle inside. If you're interested, I've got a stock exhaust system here.

I have been looking on this site and others to find a stock exhaust system in decent condition but haven't found one yet.  What condition is yours in?  If its in decent shape for a good price I might be interested - assuming it won't cost an arm and a leg to get it to the Knoxville area.

I've got one off an 07 and another off an 05.

If you're want the whole piece to do a faster swap out, I can get a price on shipping.

If you want just the muffler, I can cut it off and send it. But you will have to weld it back on. The price of the weld might be the same as the extra amount to ship the whole thing so it's something to think about

If the header pipes are not rusty I would definitely like to keep it as one piece.  Do you think your 05 or 07 will fit my '97?  Do you have pics?  How much are you looking to get?
