I bought my bike without gauges. I have a Drag Specialties speedometer on the way  :woohoo: but I would like a tach too. I'm doing everything I can to not use stock gauges because they are stupid expensive.

I've been looking into electrical tachs as opposed to mechanical. Not that I would mind a mechanical, I just don't know if all bike tachs hook up the same or have different ratios like the speedometers? Anyways, I really like the look and price of this tach:

http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Black-Digital-Tachometer-0-9999/dp/B006M7GZ04/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1346337511&sr=8-11&keywords=mini+tachometer

But it says it's ideal for a single coil ignition. Does my '93 GS have a single or dual coil ignition? And if it is dual, is it possible to still use that gauge to get a proper reading?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, it should work. Doesn't go all the way to redline though.

I'm good with that. I don't like running anything straight to the redline so 10k rpm works for me! Thanks for the clarification there  :thumb:

It may not like getting wet - looks like more of an "in the car" than "out in the weather on a bike" gauge. There are aftermarket bike-specific gauges that will still work after getting rained on.

Digital sucketh for a tach. LEDs in a circle pretending to be a needle work OK, but digital sucketh the one that is ginormus.

You're going it excite this thing's evidently non-adjustable "5000 rpm red light warning" every time you ride...

Despite the fact that many people do blue lights in the gauges and such-like, blue light is bad at night. Destroys your night-vision.
