Hi,

My GS500E has some decent mirrors on it but the right side doesn't really move since it was dumped on the right side by the previous owner.

that being said, i'm sort of blind to stuff behind me on the right side unless i pretty much get out of my seat to look.

Anyone got any recommendations for a decent (and affordable) set of mirrors?

Since it was dumped on the right side, i'd like to replace the mirrors and the stems that lock them to the frame.

Thanks!

oh nice!

i like that!

thanks adidasguy

also the kickstand on my bike sucks. which year kickstands can i use? it's a deplorable little thing that looks like it was welded by a six year old. i'll take a pic sometime.

can i also put on a kickstand switch on my GS500E?

thanks again.

Center stand: any year fits
Side stand: you need 89-2000 as 2001+ is shorter.
There should be a side stand safety switch. It kills the bike if it is down and you go into gear so you do not drive with the side stand down. Probably yours was removed and the wires shorted together if it is not there.
There is no safety switch on the center stand as it is for bike maintenance (plus center stand would always be up if you are driving)

It is possible the previous owner lowered the bike and made a shorter side stand? Or raised the bike and needed a linger one?

Pictures help. We live for pictures on this board.

I'll take a picture and attach it.

The previous owner of a bike was a girl so i guess it's possible that it was lowered. even the handle bar is different from stock.

how can i tell if it's been lowered?

i'm really hoping that's not the case.

i got a set of bar-end mirrors on ebay from some chinese company. The ones where the lens is not secured by a tiny screw are delightfully convex (as they should be) and they look great on my superbike bars. 15 bucks.

here's a blurry, shitty picture:

I like the bar end mirrors, but install them upside down. Cleaner look.

Bar end mirrors all the way!  I only have the left hand side mirror on now.  I would probably ride without them at all if I could, but you gotta have at least 1 mirror in CA.  Motorcycle mirrors have never been very functional IMHO.  They're small, they vibrate a lot, and half of it is always blocked by your arm or shoulder.

I definitely need that kickstand switch too. I've forgotten the kickstand once or twice now.

thanks!
