So my 05 gs500f. Has been giving me trouble. It will start but wnt idle. If I rev it up it throws out a mixture of gas and oil out of some hole under the seat it seems. Anyine have ne idea y?

Some hole under the seat, sounds like carbs.

Maybe your carbs are not squarely situated into the engine intake or maybe your carbs are missing a screw on the drain?

Have you done any work on the bike recently?

How do you know its gas+oil and not just gas?

The easiest thing could be just a loose fuel hose?

identify the hole.
Where is it? What is it on?
Could be a "T" vent on the carbs.
Could be a hose came off.
Could be the drain hose from the air box.
Could be the valve cover vent to the airbox.

There are lots of holes and hoses. Please be more specific. Pictures? Diagrams?

I hav a picture of it but I dnt kno how to post it up on here. It smells like gas but it looks like oil. . How do I post pictures?

you can join a photo sharing site like photobucket, upload it there, then copy and paste the image code into your reply and we'll be able to help you more  :thumb:

Not really - clicked on the link and there is so much typical facebook crap/garbage/worthless-postings that I have no idea where your stuff is.

Easy to get a free photobucket account or some other site for photos.

That is the air box drain. There should be a hose on it that goes down to the lower right. See the nipple looking thing handing down at the back of the engine? That's the other end of the drain hose. (Look on the right, above the spring and dangling in front of the 2 bolts that hold the frame together)

Now the question is why all that stuff is dumping into the air box.

Remove the air filter and look in there with a flash light. Look for lots of stuff pouring in from one of the carbs. If so, that would be a stuck float and gas is dumping from the overflowing of the carb.

If not, someone else probably has ideas how that would get into there.

Thank u very much. Im going to check that n get bak to u. Thanks again.

Theory:  Stuck float or bypassing needle or 0-ring combined with faulty petcock (or petcock left in 'prime', or modified petcock) overfilled a carb which ran fuel into a cylinder and on into the crank case.  Now lots of oil/gas is in the crank case and blowing out the crank case vent and into the airbox.

If That is the case. Is that hard to fix or should I hav a professional do it?

Paulcet

Easy fix provided the thinned oil hasn't caused any bearing damage.

But remember, that is only a theory! Proving it is up to you.
