Get hot picking that bike up over and over? :D

Looks like shes a little too short to have both feet, even toes on the ground. My MSF course had us basically walk the bike using only the clutch and no throttle, slowly working the speed up until we were crossing the parking lot in only a few steps.
Yeah she cannot touch the ground properly.  She's going to try again and if she's still keen, we will buy her a more suitable bike.
Avoid the stress, family fighting and damage to your bike: sign her up for a class. Their bikes are meant to be dropped. She will learn a lot by taking a motorcycle safety class.

Here in the states (most states) it also qualifies you for your license and a discount on insurance.
no stress here, in fact the whole time we were out, we were laughing the whole time.  I knew what to expect so was never going to stress about it.  it also helps that my wife really wants to do it and I want to let her go as slow as she likes.  she's in no hurry and I'm not rushing her.

not really interested in customising the seat, I already have a custom seat guy who did the Bandit (and its brilliant), the GS500 was never intended to be a long term bike originally (though my wife was never going to get her license either :dunno_black: ).  its more the weight of the bike that bothers my wife, so we'll be looking at a lighter bike even if the seat height isn't much different.  it will be either a smaller lighter sport bike or maybe even a small trail bike which I'll dual purpose for myself later on as an adventure bike for exploring where road bikes cannot go.

I would recommend just lowering the GS, or getting ether a TW200, or XT225.

My wife started on a TTR125, then XT225, now my GS which I lowered back down for her.

She's 5' even by the way.

VTR is the lightest. They can get a move on too.

The VTR250 seems to be mentioned by quite a few people, might be an option to consider.  Did have a look at a GN250, but it was seriously tired and not all that appealing.

Course there is the all conquering cbr250r
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

when we stopped to get gas the trip meter was at 205 miles on the dot. filled up with 3.58 gallons.

205 miles/3.58 gallons = approximately 57.2 mpg

possibly. its a naked and she has to negotiate with a lot of traffic around here going to and from school/work. its also got the K&N filter with the full yoshimura system and jetted accordingly, so im sure that knocks it down a few pegs too.

im sure if we did a full cruise ride she would end up getting something outrageous.

ThatOtherGuy

I've got a naked and commuting I get well and truly over 300kms per tank (ex reserve) and often over 350kms.  On long rides on the highway I get a potential 400kms plus, adding the reserve tank, potentially well over 500kms and one run I could have achieved just shy of 600kms on a standard 20litre tank (incl reserve).  I keep detailed records of my mileage so I know.  I won't specify the MPG as our gallons are different in Australia.  I still calculate the MPG on the spreadsheet as I can (just another column) and I know its relativity to other vehicles I've owned in the past.

MVent03

Washed it, cleaned lubed the chain, checked the tire pressure, installed Cramp Buster.

Just rolled past 10,000 miles!

(only 5k of them were mine though...)
