Quote from: GI_JO_NATHAN on October 13, 2012, 07:57:16 AMI really like the look of the nekid SV's, but I really enjoy the fairings on my 04 GS for highway and rain duty.
But I don't like the more aggressive riding position of the S model.

you could get an S model and put handlebars on it? not too expensive of a change i would imagine. an "N" top triple, your bars of choice, and longer front brake lines (i think) and you're all set.

Sweat SV's!
Now I'm kinda looking at the VStrom's thinking, thinking that may be a decent compromise. Although I'm afraid I may ride a bit too hard in the twisties for the Strom.
Maybe you should test ride one? I love mine, granted it's not a sport bike, but the ergonomics are such that it can be ridden all day, even 2-up. The V-Strom is a physically larger bike and has a little less cam than an SV and a bit more flywheel weight. Up until 2012? DL's held 5.8 US gal/22 L of fuel. Combine that with 55-58 Mpg on the open road, you can go around 275 Miles and still have a gallon of gas in the tank.

The OP picked the correct color SV!  :thumb:

My '05 DL650 is lowered .750/19mm

Don't know why they did that - drop 2 liters to a 20l tank instead of the 22. That would make me want the 2011 models and lower - even you can find one with low mileage.

It's about a 1/2 Gal or 25-30 miles of range....I went to 30 Miles because when I had my original muffler on mine I once got 61.5 Mpg out of a tank.  The styling people probably had more to do with it than anything? I don't really see the small reduction in capacity a deal breaker...if I was in the market for a rock solid all rounder  :dunno_black:

Look for some stuff by iDave on ADVrider.  Rails on the twisties with his Strom, even scrapes pillion pegs.

Gotta chop that rear fender! SV has the best tail in my opinion. Those lights are brilliant.

No doubt!  Once funds allow, that's going to be my first real mod.  Then new signals.

Up first will be a tank pad, or in all likelihood, some HammerGrips from SVrider.

Thumper, 1 head, 1 pipe as in photo...

OK....rear cylinder points towards the seat, you can just make out where the pipe for the hidden rear cylinder connects to the pipe you can see, just ahead of the rear tire  :whisper:

What Stevo said, second pipe comes out and joins under the bike.

And the GS is a parallel twin, not V.  :thumb:
