I've been playing a cool little online golf game from Japan called Pang-ya.  Downloading and playing is free, and it's a bunch of fun!  Everyone playing is really encouraging and I haven't seen a griefer yet.

Yes, there is a lot of stuff in Japanese that you're not going to be able to read, but a bunch of helpful people have translated stuff and put it on the web as a guide.  Trust me, the main game interface has English and you don't need to know Japanese to play

I really do suggest taking a shot at this.  Gameplay is quite a bit like Hot Shots Golf for the PS2, some differences, but easy playing in general.
