When my first gs500 needed a choke cable, I looked locally and got shocked and ended up buying a new one off ebay

did some digging and heres what i found (maybe it'll help someone later)

the ideal year sv650 tube is 99-02...Motion Pro makes a replacement tube for it that also fits these models

1999-2008 Suzuki SV650
2000-2006 Suzuki GSX-R750
2004-2006 Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa
2004-2006 Suzuki GSX600F Katana
2003-2005 Suzuki GSF1200S Bandit
2001-2004 Suzuki GSX-R1000
2000-2003 Suzuki GSX-R600
1999-2002 Suzuki SV650S

the Motion Pro part number is 01-1045 if you want a new tube instead of a used one (it's $10.99 on their website))...also the used tubes from all of those bikes should fit and work the same on our GS's...i'm ordering one and will let you know my findings

So what were you findings on this?  Was the motion pro tube plug and play with no problems?  I found it for 8.83 on Amazon...

Cool, thanks.

I have loads of good used cables.

When I fix up a bike, I try to use new cables if in doubt - just because it is MY little pride and joy, not because the used cable is bad.

New cables I buy from MotionPro. Never a problem. Remember that new cables are shipped dry. You have to lube them before installing them.

Anytime you remove and replace a cable, it is good to hang it up and squirt lots of cable lube in and let it drip out to clean out old crud and put in fresh lube. And move the insides back & forth. Then your cables will last forever. Also put grease on the ball ends (I use white Lithium grease).
