So I was cleaning the bowls and jets for the first time on my '93 and found that one of the pilot jets is stripped and I cannot get it out. What are the best and easiest methods for getting a stripped pilot jet out?

Maybe twist and pull out with pliers or vice grips?

I broke the head part on mine so i could not use a flat head screwdriver.  An easy out worked flawlessly on it.  These were 1989 carbs that sat for a bunch of years.

Its the pilot jet not the main, so you cannot reach the head as it down in a hole. I have it soaking with WD right now and I might try tapping a sharpened screw driver into it. I would think that anything that would fit inside of it like an easy-out would be too skinny to have any strength and would snap off, making an even bigger problem.

Ya sharpened screw driver tapped into it just broke off and left more mess. I guess I will have to use an extractor. I assume I will have to drill out the center of the jet a bit to get an extractor in there?

Hit it with a left handed drill bit.

I bought a 5 pack of screw extractors like this http://www.alltradetools.com/catalog/273-297-thickbox/648511-6-pc-screw-extractor-set.jpg and used the smallest one to take out a pilot on my carbs years ago.  Just tap it with a hammer while turning the extractor until it catches, then finish taking it out.  The hammer tap should help loosen the jet as well.

Funny were talking about extractors. Ive got several sets and had to use one tonight. One of the allen heads on my Katana rim holding the rotor in place stripped. I had to drill the center and use an extractor to get it out.

Thanks DrtRydr!

No problem.  I just realized that the link was to a 6 pack of exctractors......doh!  Anyway, the type of extractor is what I used.  There is another type that has a ridge instead of threads.  I have the type in the picture with threads.
