I am wanting to purchase a carb sync tool and I see you can make one dirt cheap or buy the Morgan carbtune or Harmonizer. I was going to purchase the carbtune pro and would like your thoughts on this or other carb sync tools. What about some type of vacuum gauges? Does anyone have carb sync tool they want to sell? THANKS again

I cannot reccomend the Carbtune enough  :thumb: Its right up there with my battery load test.

Although someone will probably be along shortly saying the homebrewed version made from fishtank pipe is just as good......believe me it ain't  :D

I bought two vac gauges from Harbor Freight not too long ago and used them. I connected each gauge to each carb vac port.

Just bought a Carbtune Pro and synched the GS500 and Bandit carbies.  Here's the review I wrote for another forum, I cannot rate it highly enough:
QuoteBeen researching for a while on how to and what I need to do this job.  Eventually on the Bandit forums I found a link to this product which was by far the cheapest all in one ready to go no more to buy solution.

This is what they say they give you:

And that is exactly what I received:

I added this to the above:

To create this:

Basically you have to add the clear tubing into the black tubing at the carb' end as a stabiliser.  I added the red cable ties just as a visual reminder.  I also decided to add a velcro strap to use instead of the supplied reusable cable tie, that just a personal preference.

This is the GS500's readings before balancing, its actually well within spec, but I figured I'd gone to the trouble of setting up I may as well go for ultra balanced: :D

This is after adjustments and throttle blips:

This is the unit hooked up to the GS500:

This is my ghetto fuel line extensions:

I give the CarbtunePro, 10 out of 10.  It does exactly what it should do and all the required gear for a basic bike is included.  You may need to buy other fiddly bits to make the job easier but that is not Carbtune's issue, there are many and varied combinations of bike setups.

I also balanced the Bandit's 4 carb's and the job was just as easy if not easier as a previous person who balanced had installed rubber extensions on the vacuum lines.  I'll probably extend these next time and add them to the GS500 for ease of application.

THANKS for the info :thumb: That's what I was looking for...!! Thanks for showing the gauges because I didn't know how they worked but if GOD will allow me to ride for the next 30+ years, I think I will buy the carbtune for my bike now and other bikes that will follow.

The way I look at it, just tuning the carb's on both bikes last weekend paid for the tool in what a mechanic wold have charged.  Because even though they were basically okay it still would have cost for them to tell me.  Though they would have probably said they did all this work synching/balancing and I would be none the wiser that it wasn't necessary.

Those snafu bar ends are badass.  :D
Thank you, you'd be surprised how the extra narrowness in traffic can be helpful overtaking stationary vehicles.
