Hey all, just joined and yep I'm in Brissie  :thumb:

I'm actually on an '82 GS450 rather than a 500, but pretty much the same thing right?

I was out with a few guys from the GS Resources and Katana Australia forums on Sunday... Samford, Dayboro, Woodford, Maleny, Mapleton etc. Was a great ride except for the hail over Mt Mee on the way back... three different lots and it don't tickle!

You've got balls to head out in that weather! Call me soft but grey skies will call of any ride for me...crashed in the rain before and wouldn't chance wrecking another bike riding in the rain!

I'm on the northside at Arana Hills so I like heading out Samford/Dayboro way up to Mt Mee etc :D
...

Welcome pete :thumb:

I was out too in that on the Bandit and got hailed on in Mapleton.  There were five of us pushing through it.  I heard there was a Katana day going on, was hoping to come across you guys.

If you're interested you should look at joining the Brissy Riders Club forum, lots of rides organised through there.  I'm doing a similar ride weekend in early December.

Aussie Chick, I'm in Albany Creek, if you see a naked GS500 around on weekdays in yellow, could be me, weekends its the black Bandit.

peteGS

Cheers for the welcome guys (and gal  ;))!

AussieChick: Until December last year I'd been off two wheels for nearly ten years, so I'm taking every chance I can get for a ride now. Dual sport tyres help somewhat in the rain but I just take it real easy... then again I'm not all that quick in the dry either... hahaha

You share the same postcode as me and two of the guys over on the GS Resources too... I'm in Keperra. Don't get out on the weekends as much as I'd like unfortunately...

Michael: Good to know where people are, I haven't been Tamborine way for many years so need to get down there and Canungra etc. at some point.

ThatOtherGuy: Weather was perfect when we were in Mapleton... Clear Mountain Rd was not clear in the morning either... haha

I washed, polished, and waxed the 450 on Saturday... yeah that was a waste of time! There sure was a Katana ride going on, although we only ended up with one for the whole distance. Three started the day, one with no wet weather gear, and the other guy's wife had a baby the night before so had to disappear at Woodford.

I'm a little tapped out on time at the moment but will check into the Brissy riders club.

If you guys like I will let you know of GS Resources/Kat forum rides coming up too, might be doing one over Chrissy.

Here's my 450 after its clean on Saturday so you know who to look out for:

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

Npw that is a VERY NICE ride Pete.
Oh and welcome :thumb:
I am not interested in anything you have to say
Don't bother talking to me, I will not answer you

Brissy Riders. Yeah, I'm a member. Haven't been on a ride with them yet though. Almost every ride it seems, someone crashes.  :dunno_black:

I ride with my fellow "crew" so no real Need to go with them.

Cheers guys, rebuilt it with a few mods over a few years, very happy with the result!

Unfortunately it's not so clean and shiny after Sunday's ride...

I hear ya', one reason I tend to avoid Nebo/Glorious is the nutters there who want to pass you on blind corners because you haven't got your knee down... I like riding at my pace...

If I ride with anyone, I tend to ride with the fellas I've met on the GS Resources and Katana Forums as mostly they're my speed or only a little quicker and of course are all on GS' or GSX's. I'm the only little twin but I don't mind, they only lose me in the straights usually :)

I don't tolerate stupid stuff on rides I organise, sure sometimes we like to have a bit of fun, but only if all parties are up to it and most importantly, it is safe.  I hear you about Nebo/Glorious though, seen some really dumb stuff up there.

Good call, so far I've organised a few for the GSR and Kat folks and so far so good, those who want to go for a blast get to the front and go then wait at the next turn. Mind you, I'm typically one of the younger ones there too... we seem to be a more... "mature" bunch shall I say? Hahaha

I prefer Nebo to Glorious, less crap all over the roads... but I really only like it up there when it's on my way back from going around Somerset through my favourite curves just before the little town over there :)

Best part of glorious is.... the lead up to it from Fernvale side before you start the climb. The mountain itself is meh. I'd rather do Mt Lindesay.

Can only agree on both accounts guys!

Settlement Rd is usually my fun on the way home from work... but yesterday that turned to shite... knocked over by a young fella in a ute that didn't see me, bugger! Not too much damage and I'm ok, but it busted the brand new baking tray I was bringing home to make a cheesecake!

Straightened the forks in the triple clamps last night, I think the front end is ok, but a dent in the header is a bugger... I should've known it was going to happen as the traffic was banking up when it never does there... I did back off but obviously not enough. 100% his fault for changing lanes on top of me but I still could've prevented it... he'll have some bills to pay now!

Good to hear you're okay.  What was the issue there, I was there yesterday also, rare occasion for me, seeing another rider in Upper Kedron about some leathers and couldn't believe the traffic.  They were diverting at the cop shop which suited me as I was going that way anyway so never actually saw the cause of the issue.

Got the leathers, fit like they were made for me, RST RIFT jacket and pants, barely used $200 the lot.  Couldn't get teh $$ out fast enough

peteGS

Cheers guys, took her for a run around the long block today and everything seems straight with the front end and the gear shift adjustment seems to be all good.

He owes me for hand guards, saddlebags, the baking tray that was in the saddlebag, and whatever will need to be done for the pipe.

Not sure what was going on with Settlement Rd though, although my wife did mention she heard something about an accident in Ferny Grove...

My only issue is going to be if I have to be without the bike to get the header sorted... I really don't wanna be without it, especially this time of year! I'm guessing any work is going to be backed up and delayed as everyone will be trying to get stuff done before Christmas...

Oh, and good score on the leathers! $200??!! that's a steal!
