Buddha, I really would have done that to my cam caps, but I don't have a welder, grinder, or moly-teflon coating, and something tells me that the head I got is cheaper than all those things. I would have just replaced the caps with ones from another head, but people on this forum seemed really unsure about doing that. People said that it will work, but they won't be perfect and will ruin your engine down the line. I'm just gonna replace the head and sleep easy

That was my concern too, I picked up the head assembly off E-bay for $123 shipped, it was off a 2005 model with less than 2000 miles.  Plus, the only set of journal caps that I could find used were $45 on E-bay, end there is no guarantee that they would fit......I don't have access to all the welding and milling machines either.  I just have to wire up a digital tach now.....

Actually you do the cam caps swap cos you want to avoid all the pain of a head swap and get a better end result.
The cam caps if you take your original ones, and the ones off the head you have, you can take it to a machinist and have him match it, if its a couple 1000's over, google Moly teflon coating. If you cant find it, I have a contact who can. The whole kit and kaboodle should cost you under 30-40 bucks. In fact I'd do all 4. Moly teflon has a ability to take in oil, swell and stay lubricated. Essentially eliminating the dry start situation. In my area, there is 3-4 places that do it. Yo ucan get all the innards off a standard v8 motor - all off the shelf coated with it. You can also coat the cyl and pistons etc etc with various things like it ... tops of the piston and head and valve face with a high temp reflecting coating ... valve stems and cyl walls and piston skirts with moly teflon.
Cool.
