Can I have the Petcock lower than the carbs?

Still haven't finished the entire project, just wiring and paint left but after staring at a few things I've already done I realized I messed up, the Petcock can't be below the Crabs, can it?

It can be anywhere. Fuel flows through it by gravity from the tank.

Heck, when we're working on bikes we have a 4 foot hose from the shop tank and it is even partly on the floor!

The critical thing when testing is to have your test fuel bottle about the same height as the real tank. Gravity feeds the fuel. If the tank is too high, then the little itty bitty floats can't overcome all that force of fuel from gravity and fuel gushes out of the carbs everywhere. (Been there - learned the hard way.)

For your final project, you're OK. Just be sure you can get at it when you need to switch to reserve.

OT but your petcock and brake reservoir will get really dirty in that location unless you have a rear hugger/fender.

are you changing the alignment of the carbs and gas tank at all?  or just location of the petcock?  if it's the latter, i'd think that everything would work fine as long as you have vacuum.

GL, looks interesting.

talk about sucking to change it to reserve. That will work as everyone else said.

Thanks for the replies...

I fabbed up a electrical box to fit between the new rear sub frame rails, off off that I will have a small flap to keep road debris of the Petcock and Resevior.

Tank and Carbs are in the same location as stock, the only thing that has changed is the location of the petcock.

Here is where I am at thus far on the project...I take way to much time off and only work on it when the mood strikes me..

It's looking pretty sweet! But I'm going to echo the comment that it will be a pain to get to when you need to switch. You'll definitely have to pull over to do that, no switching on the go.

What kind of headlight are you going to put on there?

I forget the brand name...They have the newfangled fake LED Halo around the outside edge...I think thier Cats Eyes or something...They look cool. Stlll messing around with various Directionals, more than likely will end up with something from my parts bins.
