Looking to buy a GS but want to have it checked out before finalize the deal.  Anywhere to bring the bike over?

Ernest

[edit]or anyone can help me to do a quick checkup?

Usually nothing big breaks on a GS... ok as long as its not been hit by a freight train... but if you are going to take it to a shop for every little sneeze and sniffle.... you are going to have a very expensive hobby. If the $$$ is right and the bike looks and works fine... its most likely good...

I'm not quite sure where you're at in toronto...so can't really direct you to a shop specifically...

but if you wanna stay away from dealers...i find that Ted at Rosey Toes are pretty good (Weston rd./401)
wileyco, K&N pod, rejet 22.5/65/147.5, F16 flyscreen, progressive springs, 15t front sprocket...more to come: katana shock

I am up in the Markham area quite a bit too ( I work there ) so let me know if you have questions about the bike.  I am no expect, but I guess I own the bike for a while, probably know enough about it :)

Sure, GSs are pretty bullet-proof, but it's still a good idea to have them checked over by a qualified motorcycle mechanic (see GVH's thread about the 96 having engine troubles).  Even though a bike may look good, there could be oodles wrong with it inside and I witnessed that first-hand.  I don't know how anybody buys a bike off Ebay without seeing/hearing it in person first...

www.gtamotorcycle.com has a links section listing a bunch of shops in and around Toronto - choose one in your area and then check the Reviews section for feedback.  Then call them up and talk to them about checking the bike over.  Usually, they'll spend about an hour doing a thorough check and charging you an hour of labour is definitely worth peace of mind when investing in your next ride. :thumb:
