Abandoned my attempts at trying to get Taarna to run properly with a K&N lunchbox and the stock exhaust. Resumed my fight with the stock airbox and won by unbolting the frame petcock, beating on the airbox, pushing/pulling the wiring harness around, and verbally degrading said airbox until it submitted to me. Maybe now I can get back to riding and finding out how she handles with the R6 shock and rebuilt front end with cartridge emulators.
(Side note, I now have a K&N lunchbox filter, some carburetor jets, and a crankcase breather filter available for sale now. Will post in the B/S/T later.)

Yes - if you unbolt the frame petcock the airbox goes in real easy.
Also, I find that if the carbs are out, put on the air box and install the carbs + airbox as a single unit. Works well.
Otherwise, take out the air filter so you can reach in through the air filter to get the airbox/carb boots onto the carbs.

As for no adidas helmet: a shot of good blue agave tequila after riding gets rid of the willies from a non-adidas helmet. Adidas hiking boots work well for riding. Today I had adidas t-shirt, thick adidas flannel shirt and adidas parka (Parka and flannel from Munich in the Gluhwein collection not sold outside Germany).

Adidas makes MBX and skateboarding stuff - just nothing for motocross or motorcycles. Though I do have a never work large black leather biker style adidas jacket that is really cool, but too big for me. I guess I'll post a picture in the FS section. Someone should buy it and give it some love.

Adidas make squash shoes. None of the adidas shops around here stock them WTF? I call head office. Oh yeah, a Sport Supply Business bought them as an Exclusive but they've run out.  >:(

That's why I love to travel: to go to the adidas stores in other countries and buy what is not available in the USA. The Glühwein collection was never sold (and couldn't be sold)  in the USA (because Americans do not know what Glühwein is) . Glüewein (umlout should be over the "U") would never be sold outside Germany, and southern Germany in particular because glühwein is a German thing at the Christmas markets in December. Terrific parka and the matching flannel shirt is fantastic.

Shopping for sizes is different because Americans are so fat. Normally in the USA I buy Medium shirts. The glühwein shirt and jacket are small. Also the mediums for shirts are narrower cut than in the USA. One pants I bought in China were XL! WTF? Oh, Americans are fat! Just try to fit in a medium shirt from the 70's. Our sizes have gotten bigger so we don't feel are fatter - but sizes here are bigger than they were 30 years ago.

Drove in a tunnel today

Stopped for photos of course.

GS was due for its maintenance ride to run some gas through and top off the tank with freshness. Had to tough out the cold, but I'd rather look for an excuse to ride than spend through the time winterizing. Any excuse for an adventure.

In non related GS news, a buddy and I went in on an 81 honda CX500. Peculiar bike bought from a peculiar man on CL in south Seattle. It's a transversely mounted, shaft drive, liquid cooled V-twin, similar to the old Guzzis. The thing was torn apart by someone who obviously didn't have too much vision for what they were trying to create, and consequently really messed a lot of things up. No pics yet, but it does run and we picked it up for pennies on the dollar, so we've got some very interesting ideas for it. We're looking at a cafe-esque project.

I know,  pics or it didn't happen. Sorry, got nothing.
When in doubt, empty the magazine.

Thanks was trying to find an industrial background to take some photos and this tunnel worked out perfect. Was underneath a main road so was kind of cool to be down there.

If I hadn't seen the first pic, I'd swear the second and third were Photoshopped.

Took both bikes out for a 400km run through the twisties through the Gold Coast hinterland and into NSW.  I rode one (Bandit), while a mate rode the other (GS500).  All Up about 150kms of highway/suburbia, the rest was all twists and turns.  It was a damn good day out.

Installed the harness for my new Sedici Hotwired gloves.

Sooooo nice to have warm hands when riding in the cold now. Totally worth the $$$.

Cleaned up the underseat area and the inside of the plastics (found a dead spider D: ), cleaned/conditioned the seat, and tried to install the shad topmaster rack...

Sadly the previous owner installed aftermarket turn signals, and they block one of the places where the rack needs to be, so I'mma have to find OEM ones or something x_x

Which topcase did you get? Or you just using it as a luggage rack?

...I have a Shad SH46 Case myself and I love it; however, I used the SW-Motech Alu-Rack to mount the case to rather than the Shad topmaster because it had a lower profile.  Though the topmaster rack looks like a sturdier design.

I'm guessing the aftermarket rear signals have smaller stalks that don't come out far enough to clear the lower support of the rack?

Be aware that rear racks for "F" models are not compatible with "E"models and vice versa. Reason is the "F" tail (2001+) is a couple inches higher. Hence things can interfere with the turn signals. I know - I have "E" and "F" bikes as well as "E" and "F" racks and studied why one doesn't fit the other.

I do not think it is a turn signal issue - sounds like you got a rack for the wrong model of frame (89-00 .vs. 2001+)

Got the SH40C, looked like the right size for me., SH42+ looked a bit too big, I hope I don't end up regretting the small-ish size :P

Hmmm, I'll post some picks of the rack and the signals as mounted, you could very well be right.
