I can get a PAIR of 99-06 Haybusa mufflers from a friend for $50,  I read that just about any muffler can be put on with the right fabrication,  just wonder if anyone has tried this or anything similar... Please feel free to weigh in on if this would work.

Why would you do this? I would think that stock silencers for a 1300 cc motor would have more packing than the stock silencer for a 500 cc motor and therefore, would be more restrictive.......

People have installed R1 exhausts and had good results.

Me?  Keep the stock exhaust and modify the intake. Best bang for the buck.

I think it's a little backwards from that.
The Busa muffler is required to flow more CFM, so I would think the GS should have an easier time pushing it through..

To save yourself a ton of hassle, buy an exhaust that was made for the GS 500.

I would think louder, just not sure by how much..
The good news is if it's off a bike that had a catalytic converter it should flow pretty good.

you can modify almost any slip on to fit your bike. you'll likely lose power and torque though without proper jetting, and you may as well K&N it then. i think you'd enjoy a respring or riding class on more occasions.

I have a Busa Yosh pipe cut significantly down to fit my bike; sounds pretty good too. You can see how short the All seeing and all knowing werase643 cut it down to and i love it! Just need to replace that sig gen to get her back going
