Might have the steering lock on
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

So, a would be thief would ignore the police tape but be foiled by the cheap easily-broken steering lock? Yup, could happen.

Hey u saw the article to the thief it's one more thing to do to get at the bike. Might delay him long enough that a car or bike comes along and rattles him enough to give up

Yep, on a mountain in the middle of nowhere when noone is coming. he could take that bike in broad daylight and noone would bat an eyelid. They'd just thing it was the owner coming to pick it up.

Johan from Kangaroo Point. Yellow '05 GS which many of you have already seen in other places (and I'm on my mobile so too much hassle right now for pics).

First post to GStwins after my account finally got activated (mods were on holiday). Thanks to codajastal for hurrying them up! :)

I saw this sad sight today up the mountain. Saw the owner. A few hours later. A nice young guy who thought he would try a twilight ride after work. Not the greatest idea. But we all learn. Says he lurks here so i told him to join up. Result of the stack was a low side coming in to hot into one of the downhill bends. Been there, done that. Scratched clutch cover, bent clutch lever and handlebars

Ouch!

Looks like an 09.

So, the police tape put there by the police - ior something he carries around, just in case, and which discourages other people from maybe taking the bike during the night.?

I'm pretty sure the police put the tape on to stop people calling up about a crashed abandoned bike on the side of the road. It's like telling people yeh we know about it don't worry.

peteGS

I've seen a lot of smashed up vehicles on the side of the road lately with "Police Aware" on a sign on the windscreen, probably the same deal.

I'd never even contemplate a twilight ride up the mountain, way too many idiots, too much wildlife, and nowhere near enough visibility for that! Poor bugger, hope he's alright!

Yep that's me, making my way through all the local communities haha!

Another Brisbane-ite - at Westlake.  Just got a new GS500.  Daily work commute is to Samford Valley via back of Mt Cootha, Settlement Rd, Ferny Grove. Lovin the new bike.  Have a KLR650 for sale - wasn't using it off-road at all.

Welcome Allen, that's a nice commute!

Yes, it is a nice commute.  Out of the main traffic (once I get across Centenary Bridge and onto Moggill Rd). A few alternatives too if I get bored (Waterworks Rd, Bardon, Samford Rd, Mitchelton, etc). The 6 speedbumps on Gap Creek Rd are a pain in the A - when I started the daily commute 2 years ago they were much flatter - pity someone decided they weren't effective like that! Went home via Mt G, Somerset Dam, Fernvale earlier this week.

peteGS

Geez it's a hard life for some! Hahaha kiddin'... I'm just jealous!

Commute for me is Samford Rd in the mornings then down through Enoggera and the Grange, home is via Waterworks Rd with one tiny little section of fun up Settlement Rd which is normally spoilt by some knob sitting in the right hand lane doing 40kph...

I've only done Gap Creek Rd 3 times, and only once on a bike on the way back from the Australian Motorcycle Museum, and yeah those speed bumps are ridiculous... as are the "traffic calming" bits and pieces...

Ahhh I know all these areas  :icon_mrgreen: go Northsiders!

Gap Creek Road is heaps fun! I used to head into uni a lot on the weekends then pick random roads to come home via to treat myself in the late afternoon, and that was a fun one....might head that way this weekend! Didn't go for a ride last weekend :(
