GRU

i just finished installing older gsxr dual headlights on my gs....

now the last thing i have to do is adjust the hight....i know there is a method where you put a car/bike infront of a wall, about 3 meters away and turn on the headlights, then measure the hight of the beam...

anyone know the specs for this? how far away from the wall and how high?

or do you know a better method

Haynes to the rescue ... again!

From the "MOT Test Checks" section in the "Reference" chapter near the end of the manual:

GRU! you beat me to it!! hahah. still waiting for my lights to arrive.. but in the meantime, how'd you install it? you make a homeade bracket or somefin?? or get a gsxr stay? pics please??? thanks man  :thumb:  :thumb:

GRU

thank you kerry :)

BadBatzMaru, i made a bracket and everything else....i decided not to get the gsxr fairing so then i didn't keep the plastic that was holding the headlights....it looked ugly with the plastic but because i took off the plastic i had to make something to hold the headlights togeather....then i made some little brackets to connect the headlights to the stock headlight brackets....and last, i made a little bracket to hold the headlights from moving up and down....it connects to the bolts holding the speedometer and tachometer....

i'll post some pics later....right now it's raining and my bike is outside so i can't go and mount it on the bike...i'll mount it later but will post pics of the headlights and brackets

BadBatzMaru

Cool.... I got my hands on a slightly rashed gsxr upper and a headlight... but no stay as of yet... so I'm still debating on how to set everything up.. oh, and BTW i have gsxr forks so a headlight bracket/stay would be ideal!
looking forward to your pics though... i'll post some if I ever get mine done too!

Eightmarky

Dude, what does mine say?  Sweet!  What about mine?

GRU

BTW, this isn't the nicest thing i ever made...it took me more time to make this than to make the gsxr canister fit my GS with all the cutting, welding, painting and all the other things

this still isn't finished....i will insert a small piele of metal between the 2 headlights just to cover up the bracket i made and something the cover the top so you don't see the upper bracket and wires

North Americans and Continental Europeans!

Just a note about the last line from the Haynes instructions above.  You need to pretend that it says,

Quote from: Haynes Manual...check that the beam pattern falls slightly lower than the horizontal line and to the RIGHT of the vertical line.
Er, thank you.
