Found a Beeman RS2 combo (.177/.22) pellet gun behind some stuff at work today. It was on clearance for a very long time, so the price had dropped significantly. Original price was 149.99...I paid 9.88 for it...heh.

I don't know much about air guns but from what I've been reading it's decent - I know one thing, the sucker is LOUD.

Any tips/tricks for the break-action type airguns?

I have a break barrel 22cal I do squirrel hunting with. I have both field and hollow points and the field pellets seem to do better for me for accuracy. I can't remember who makes mine but it isn't that old. I do love it. Once you dial in the scope, it's really fun. As for being loud, mine has a suppressor on the end so it's not loud. I have some pics I will post the links to later but they are NOT Rated PG. With that being said, I have easily out a hole clean through a squirrel at 25-30 yards and brought them down at even further distances.

 I'm pretty sure I have the same Beeman. Only tip I can give you is keep an allen wrench handy as the barrel on mine loosens up after 20 or so rounds, so you need to tighten the bolt that you use to change barrels. Also, the scope that comes with it is damn cheap. Mine broke after a few weeks of very rare shooting.

and sometimes the cocking action is STIFF. ive praced barrel against inside of leg for leverage. granted not the safest way, specially with the power these things wield

Hmm...I wonder if I could kill armadillos with it?

In both my air rifles, JB Exacts are the most accurate pellets. 

For hunting.... Predators http://www.predatorpellets.com/ 

If the pellets are cheap enough for you, buy a dozen different types and test them to find the most accurate.

When holding the front of the rifle do Not grip it, open your palm so the stock rests on it. AND, rest the front of the stock the same place each time. An inch out will give you a different shot result.

The scope MUST be Air rifle rated. Otherwise, if it is a normal scope, it will be toast in no time at all.

Learn to shoot it accurately at 10 yards. Seems close, but do it anyway. Then, only after you are accurate at 10 yards, take it to 15. Then 20. Then 25.

You can use them to shoot squirely, rats, birds, rabbits and hares. When you do, get an anatomical pic of your prey to figure out Where a head shot will Kill. Eg. you will find for a rabbit it is between the eye and base of the ear. Any shot there should kill the rabbit.

Loads more tips but these should get you started.

Well, in my defense, we live around a lot of oak trees and they are over populated. They run across the roof, the try to chew holes in the eves in the fall and winter and they steal dog food all the time.

Besides, my dog eat'em so theres no waste

I have a benjamin .22 break barrel that i swept up shop with at my parents place when I was a kid. My mom hated the thought of killing animals, but for some reason hated squirrels more. haha
She would let me loose when they got bad enough around the bird feeders. 

I found that predators did work really well for me. The hollow points are cheap and consistent in my gun. Try using iron sights at close distances for a bit. Work your accuracy until 10 rounds are inside the area of a quarter. (Some guns aren't capable). Then put the scope on. I found it lets you become accustomed to the weapon and improves your stance and mechanics.

Today is national Squirrel appreciation day.  How sad.

Thought ya lived in the USA. Dontcha go round shooting everywhere? Ya know, woods, shopping centres, outta  the car, Afghanistan, places like that. And now ya say that town limits are a big bogey. Ya'll be telling me that ya can't fix the car on the front lawn next. I don't know what the good ol US of A is coming to.

It is illegal to discharge a firearm within either 50 or 100 yards of a public road.

Ehh funny lol. town ordinances prohibit gunfire, yet county ordinances its allowed. 1500ft away is the line.
