If i remember correctly, there are a few 9(?) year broods, several 13 year broods about a dozen 17 year broods.  Cicadas are out most every year, but not in anything approaching the numbers of this particular year.

Brood X is by far the largest.
2 C8H18 + 25 O2 = 16 CO2 + 18 H2O + :)

Just wait...  You people in the area are in for a real treat.  Or maybe a real pain in the ass.  As I said, I was just a kid when I saw them and I didn't have to clean anything up!

I'm in Baltimore, MD, and we haven't seen hardly any yet, but I keep hearing that it'll be any day now...not exactly looking forward to the helmet/bike cleanups!  Think they'll cause traction problems in corners if there are enough of the shells?

Speaking of creatures, I was attacked by a turkey vulture the other day while riding through some horse farms north of town...it was pretty funny actually since it only brushed me with its wing (These birds are HUGE)
but could have been dangerous if it had hit me head on...

Watch out for bugs and birds!
