Hey guys first post here,

I have recently added a Acewell 3701 to replace a damaged speedo and replace the entire dash for a street fighter project I am building. The problem I have is that as you know the GS has only a single indicator display on the stock dash where as the 3701 has a left and a right indicator. I have seen in previous posts that it is possible to wire the left indicator by running another wire to the left hand indicators but no one has actually said where it needs to be added to get the dash to show my left hand indicator. I have attempted splicing from both the left hand indicators but cant seem to get a signal back to the dash.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would like to add a how to for other users.

Separate the two wires leading to your dash indicator light. Black wire left and light green wire right. Run these to your two new indicator lights. You will need to add new return wires back to earth.

That was it, thanks for the help Mitch. Was that taken from a workshop manual? And if so which one? Got to get me one. Any recommendations?

What you can do is ignore the GS500 indicator light.
Simply wire your dual indicators one to the left front turn signal and the other to the right front. Pick up a ground anywhere that's convenient.

I prefer the Haynes manual over the Clymer or Suzuki ones.
The color wiring diagram is a plus. I find the instructions on removing something and putting it back better written in the Haynes. Get one that goes through the year you have or just get the one that goes through 2008 - that's the most up to date.

Hey petes,

what year gs do you have? I am curious if the acewell will work for mine. I really dont like the look of the stock gauges in the first place.
I am into buying bikes that people have given up on and fixing them up!

RIP Patrick Lajko, I miss you man.
