And begs the question... in the zombie apocolypse etc. movies, who cuts all the grass cause the lawns stay short. Eg...

Long-ish in some places. But certainly not feral like you would expect.

Zombie cows eat it of course....

Cods, if you can still make this, wanna join me for riding out to Rathdowney to meet up with the ride?

Michael

I may meet you there too. (Rathdowney)  :thumb:

The answer to that question is - a woman in a side car!

(also I usually have a handbag in my Ventura bag thing if I'm going somewhere and I want to take one...not on weekend rides though_
...

Twisted

I notice she is all colour coordinated too.

AussieChick

Yeah, right down to her nails and (kind of) her hair...

I wonder how it would feel to ride a bike with a side car...I can't imagine it feeling much like riding a bike anymore once you add the extra two wheels and metre of width to your left.

peteGS

Ok... Mister, that route looks pretty good actually, and if the road is good the other way back then that's cool by me  :thumb:

Would be nice if time allows to get out to Splityard too, haven't done that for many months now.

I've mentioned your concern with the timing from Rathdowney to Casino so we'll see what happens, but I think the Rathdowney departure time is only rough and we could be there earlier. If that's the case I will let you know if that's where you will be meeting us.

Cods and Twisted, would definitely be good to have you both along! And Twisted, if you want to meet the ride start at Rocklea then that's cool too.

Oh, and yeah Val's in the sidecar with John on the GS1100G... and yep purple's her favourite colour  ;)

John says it's hugely different and there's definitely a knack to it, but it's also very fun when you get it right.

It's certainly weird following him for the first time... quick through right handers as he leans off the right side of the bike, then slow on left handers so he doesn't pick the chair up off the ground...

Haha mate all good... you can ride at the back with the Harley that'll be coming along  :flipoff:

Kiddin', more than welcome on the Duc mate! I suspect one of the others may be taking his comfy Beemer instead of his Kat... and it's a Kat run! Sheeesh...

Ok, so here's the full rundown on the route and timing etc. Please remember that the other guys on this run need to push through to Armidale by 3pm so they won't want to be waiting around at meeting points, so please be punctual. If you're a definite attendee please let me know and I will PM you my mobile number in advance of the day so if you're running late or meeting elsewhere or whatever you can let me know.

Having said that, all our Kat/GSR runs are typically run at the speed limit (or thereabouts) and noone will be forced to ride under any pressure. Being late is always an option and much preferred to being pushed into riding beyond limits. If anyone wants to go for a blast and ride ahead that's fine providing you wait at the next turn off point for the rest of the group.

The official run will be meeting at the Shell servo corner Granard and Beatty Rds Rocklea at 6am for a 6:30am departure.

Any Northside riders wanting to ride over there together, meet at the Caltex Arana Hills corner Dawson Pde and Nepean Ave at 5am for a 5:15am sharp departure.

Here's the Arana Hills Caltex location:

http://goo.gl/maps/O200E

And the route map is here:

http://goo.gl/maps/jvb37

As above, depart Rocklea at 6:30am, arrive in Rathdowney 7:30am for a 7:45am departure, but earlier if the run is good. For you guys meeting us at Rathdowney I would suggest getting there at 7:15am or so just in case... you may end up waiting a while but if we get a good run I'd hate to miss you because we're early.

Arrive Casino between 9 - 9:30am depending on the previous run, hanging around for 30 minutes and departing for Urbenville.

Urbenville arrival should be 11 - 11:30am which will be lunch time in NSW due to daylight savings.

I expect we'll leave Urbenville by 12:30pm or so and should be back in Samford 3:30 - 4pm.

Of course if you want to leave the ride early then by all means do so, but please let someone know so we don't go looking for you thinking you've had a breakdown or worse.

At this stage I expect up to half a dozen starting at Arana Hills, and probably a dozen or so starting at Rocklea, maybe more depending on who from here comes along and if any of the GSR mob turn up.

Quick edit: Forgot to add the stop locations in Rathdowney and Casino.

Rathdowney is the Liberty servo corner Running Creek Rd and Mt Lindsay Hwy.

Casino is the Shell servo 88 Centre St Casino.

Man I haven't been out that late for years! Must be showing my age... I'm only up at that time if I have to work stupid hours these days... I know what would be more fun!

Pete, so you know...

Urbenville to Rathdowney is about 45 minutes.

Rathdowney to Yamanto via Boonah is 60 to 75 minutes.

I have a friend also on a 919. He will try and join us heathens at the back. ;)

Cool, that should be just fine  :thumb:

So that says 2 hours roughly from Rathdowney to Yamanto... so that should be about right for Samford 3:30 - 4pm... unless my maths are wrong? Good chance of that...  :icon_confused:

I'm still humming and harring about the cross post with SEQR... on the one hand it'd be nice to catch up with those guys, on the other hand it could make it just too big a group to have a good ride with... unless they were happy to only start at Casino so it doesn't become too unwieldy... but that would be a sucky start point for the Brissie riders, especially north side...

If you get ever more and more people, then lunch at Urbenville Pub becomes prolonged.

Also, for reference, Lions Rd is longer in time to Kyogle than going Summerland (not a great deal, but some) cause while it is shorter in distance it is slower - although it is quicker riding Down than coming back up, don't know why. Also, so you know in advance, as some of it is a Private Road, if something happens insurance may deny the claim - so says my insurance assessor mechanic. Never stopped me riding it cause I don't ride like a boy racer. But it is something people need to know so they can make their own informed decision about whether to ride that road or not.

Otherwise, down Lions Rd, and back Mt Lindesay is a fine ride. Lots of good views on that route.  :thumb: :thumb:

Here's a video I did of a trip down the Lions Rd...

Yeah a prolonged lunch is not what I'm looking for... I like to have a chat for a bit but when we start sitting around for a while I start getting antsy and wanna get back on the bike again... especially when there's new roads (to me) to explore!

The guys are keen to do Lions Rd as it's a bit of a favourite for some from what I can gather, and I'm keen to do it for the first time so I don't think there's any option there... I didn't realise it was part private road though...

None of the guys I typically ride with seem to be the boy racer type... in fact we're all far too old to be boy racers... haha... so we should be good in that regard although there will be guys coming on this I haven't ridden with yet.

Looking at the video makes me even more keen to do the Lions Rd  :icon_mrgreen:
