My uncle just offered to sell me his bike.  He has a 2001 zx-9r with less than 500 miles on it and said he would sell it to me for 5000.  Too bad insurance would kill me on it.  I got a quote and it would be almost 2000 a year for insurance.  Oh well I would just kill myself on it anyway.

Yeah, but you could make that Bedford/Loogootee run on US50 in record time...

That's a more than fair offer though. My buddy just paid 5K for a 2000, it came with new tires and a new clutch rebuild, however it had that ugly purple trim on it which is a letdown.

Sounds like a hell of a bike.
After riding my buddies 03 zx-636 and an Sv1000k, I cant possibly imagine justifying that much power on the street.
Even a good freeway onramp run is just puttin along. :?
 ;) sounds fun 8)

He said that he was only paying about $400 a yaer for insurance.  Of course he is in his 50's, married, with a college aged kid.  I think my youth and the fact that I have only been riding for ohh about a month now is what is killing me on insurance.  It would almost be worth buying and putting inthe garage until I am completely and totally comfortable on the GS.  He bought it new and I think he said it only has 143 miles on it.  He road the crap out of his old bike, but I guess never got around to riding this one.

The 9 is a hell of a bike and has gobs of power.  I wonder what basic insurance would be :dunno:

Anyway, for that $ I'd try to buy it.

He even said that he would hold it for me for a year or so until I was ready for it.  I just don't want to string him on and then end up bailing on the deal.
