I bought a case of Coastal oil 10w-40 15 bucks and the box says Arizona on it, so I figured it was probably refined in America. can anyone confirm this? it was only 15 bucks, thanks.

What difference does it make where it was refined?  Its still just cheap crap oil.

I'd rather put cheep AMERICAN crap oil in my bike than cheep imported crap oil.  :guns:

Uh.... you know most of the oil comes from the Mid-east or S. America right?
AFAIK there are no wells or refineries in Arizona.

As long as the SAE code is at or above the manufacturers requirement it will be fine to use "cheap" oil.  Changing it at the recommended interval is the most important thing you need to do.

I know where oil comes from,  that's why I was asking if anyone knew where this oil came from.

What is the point????????????

You are riding a bike made in Japan.  I have good reason to think that the tires on your bike were also products of another country as are most of the clothing that you own.

How about the gas in your gas tank??????????????????????????

davipu

I ride a Japanese bike because the last time WE made a small cheep gas sipping bike was......  oh wait nevermind I can't think of anytime we did that.  the piont is that I chose to soupport the Japanese economy by buying a Japanese bike and the economies of third world middle eastern countries are not on the list that I want to soupport, espically at $1.90 a gallon for regular.

ps the monkie suits that I wear every day were made in Mexico, that wasn't my decision either.

You should worry, we are paying about 80p per litre, at current exchange that's about $1.40/1.45 per LITRE, like someone said who cares where its from...............

A web search shows that Coastal (now merged with El Paso Energy) has refineries in Texas and Aruba.  I believe much of the imported oil is shiped as crude oil and refined elsewhere (most likely in the US).  It is unlikely but not impossible that the crude oil came from Arizona.

The US imports about 70% of it's oil (I think I'm right here) and of the 30% imported most of it comes from Canada, Mexico, and Venezuala.  We get very little from the middle east.  BUT, others do and if the countries that sell to us can get a higher price elsewhere they will sell to them.  So, in the end whatever the "big boys" (OPEC) decides to sell at, so goes the rest of the world.  You want to know who is helping to drive up the prices?  China!  They're starting to use a buttload of the stuff as their economy grows.  They're the ones who are making just about everything we buy now.  Of course uncertainty in the #1 and #2 (Saudi and Iraq) oil reserve countries doesn't help matters.
