And I'm not talking about KIX. Somehow I ran across the Honda VFR. I'm going to look at a 99 VFR 800 in the morning. The wife is not happy. I might need to sell my baby http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=61864.msg719388#msg719388

Any advise on how to keep it and get a new one?

Anybody here have an opinion on the gen 5 VFR's. I've done some reasearch and it seems it could be argued they are even more bullet proof than the the mighty GS.

Yup. It will let me sit without notice. But it's an easy fix.

Just put in a MosFet regulator - problem solved!

Then tell the other half that you need one bike to ride to the shop when you need parts for  the other bike. The bike shops will not sell you parts if you drive up in a car. There's your reason for 2 bikers.

Dude, that is the best advice ever. She will fall for that for sure. I might want to ice the cake with this.

Does anyone know if you can do a carfax on bikes?
I'd like to be able to validate the milage before I buy.

I had a GS500, then and other bikes, and I had to get a GS500 back...I would advise you to keep both bikes if you can!

I was always originally going to trade my GS on a 'big' bike once my licence and funds allowed... But .. After having several thousand Kms , some improvements done (minor) ... And just getting used to it... I will keep it.... For a looooong time...

I still want something with more poke and firebreathing ability .... Was always aiming for a 2010 Trumpy Street Triple R ... Still aiming for that now.. But I also want to put a 8-14 psi turbo kit on it!!!

All the mates reckon litre bike or bigger .. But meh ...

Anyway .. My GS will always have a place in my 'stable'  ;) ... It's just so forgiving and easy and simple to ride.... But you know that already!!

So yeah... Save up a bit longer and get ANOTHER bike... But keep your GS ... So we don't have to hunt you down in a dark alley somewhere and stage an intervention  ;) ;) :D

oldmech

as far as getting a second bike goes. just remember it is easier to ask forgivness than permission.  :icon_mrgreen:

Janx101

Lol yeah ... I've got a second already ... But it needs wrenching and parts and for me to have spare time.. (1989 CR250) .......

...so .... That was easy cos it only cost me 150 upfront...... But how you reckon the forgive factor works with the 3rd bike??  :icon_lol:

adidasguy

Buy one for the cats.
If you don't have a cat, but that, too. Wives love cats!

oldmech

well the forgiveness thing sometimes works for the third bike and such purchases...sometimes.   :icon_rolleyes:
and if the misses doesn't like cats by chance, get her one of these pitiful creatures and you should be OK!

I show my new bikes to my wife only after she has spotted them in the garage, I have a new 2013 WR250R, it's blue and white...I'm pretty sure she thinks its my GS500F? (that has been gone for almost 2 years)

Well, I'm going to pick the VFR tomorrow. I feel like I've betrayed my GS. Sitting out there in the in the cold garage. It's like I'm about to bring home a supermodel I just met on the street for dinner with my wife where I say....this is Victoria, she will be sharing a bed with us for a while.

I vow to do everything I can to keep my GS. I just finished getting it PERFECT. There is no way in he77 I can sell it. I'll flip burgers at McDonalds if I have to.

Anybody into Star Wars, Hotwheels/diecast, toys, Big Stereo, Transformers, old Playboys, old gaming systems, watches, a stock 06 GS rear shock/springs with 9k miles, short kickstand or computer tech support? Can I wax your car, mow your lawn or paint your fence? I need to do something. :dunno_black: :dunno_black:

the online stuff is a fail. people can re-register a bike, salvage a title, etc and the faked history is now backed by "LOOK WE'RE LEGIT !" online sources. well, less of a fail, and more like a false sense of security. it does happen.

the best way is to look at the title, compare frame numbers, milages, then call your local pd and ask if it's stolen.

it's ok to love a new bike. the viffer does 600 mile days on a whim. the gs carves tight twisties. nothing wrong with putting a top box on the viffer and running a coast line for the fun of it.

ahem, the sound is eargasmic, too. :)
