Katana shock adjustment?

Good news:  I installed a rear Katana shock on my GS500.

Bad news:  I don't think I can adjust the thing!?!

The top dial is very easy to get to.  I made sure I mounted it so it could be accessed from opposite the fuel selector petcock.  However the bottom dial could be a tuffy!

I tried to get my GS's shock "C wrench" on it but there's just not enough room.

Any ideas? :dunno:

Put the stock shock back on?

Take shock off, adjust, replace?

The kan-o-tuna shock has the rebound knob on top and the preload at the bottom?

I believe that's correct.  The rebound knob I can get to perfectly, it's the preload adjustment that's hard to get to.  It has settings 1-7 and right now its at 4, maybe I should just see how it runs and if I MUST change it, I think it will require me to remove the shock - bummer.

Still open to suggestions, or others who have faced the same problem . . .

Adjusting the Kat shock... It's a pain, but you don't need to remove the shock.  I found the shock turns just enough that it goes one click every two turns of the wrench.  Turn one moves it out of the notch, turn two puts it in the next one.  Yeah, and the wrench kinda fits crooked when you do it :(  I forgot if it was easy or hard to adjust the GS shock, but maybe the clevis length gave a little more room?

NO, the GS shock is a pain in the ass.
