Hey there,....

Anyone know- if the 2001/02 gauge cover in silver (that's what it's called #34193-01D60) is the same part as the earlier year covers in black (#34193-01D20)? 

Is it just a color difference? They look the same. I just want to know if one will fit like the other...

They are all the same.
Real early ones had amber for turn. Then it switched to green.
So they are all the same except for color.

I think I worded it wrong. I meant the BACK COVER or housing that the Speedometer/Tachometer slips into. (Large and plastic. BLACK for most years then SILVER for 2001/02)

I called it "cover" only because the OEM part menu calls it that...(looking at the bike from the front...it's right above the headlight)

Both the black plastic housings are the same for all years as are the metal rings they fit into as said above. New plastic housings don't cost that much new but a good used one can sometimes be found

back covers 1989-2002 are the same.
The tach side changed since the tach was electronic starting in 2004.
It is only a cover, so you can chip out a little plastic and use a 2004+ for one with the mechanical tach. They do fit the same to the gauge bracket.
