Also: It is taking a while to crank and start now that I replaced the spark plugs with the Brisk plugs that were hyped in another thread, it is backfiring a few times before starting.

well, okay it backfires, but you didnt explicitly state whether it starts faster?
Was it just cranking but not catching at all, before?
(in which case, my newb mechanic's mind says you have bigger problems than spark plugs somewhere)

Gibo

With NGK Iridium plugs, started fine, started up like stock. Replaced with Brisk plugs, now takes allot of effort to start (maybe 10 seconds of pressing the button) and backfires once or twice in the process. Once it has started it runs fine.

brisk plugs, despite everyones great love for them, are going to pull more juice from the coils.
You should test your coils, and signal generator just in case. They may be weak/failing and the brisk plugs may
be enough to push them over the edge.

Trigger coils will not get affected, they are on the other side of a TCI. You wont likely lose the ignition coils either. They actually will be fried if you dead short the wire to ground. Not if you put it to where it has to jump a bigger gap.

but if a coil is bad, would the plug that requires more voltage not fire as efficiently? I'm not saying the plug is killing it, but may require more potential than the coil is capable of putting out at the time.

If all he changed was the plugs, shouldn't the plugs then be the problem?

(its possible that he got bad plugs out of the box- it happens)

anyone know what the stubby can is? Looks kinda neat, Im assumeing he took it off bc it was just a slip on...

ASV levers for a SV650 with SV650 perch. I am replacing the entire front end and replacing  ASV Shorty levers with GSXR perches. Might chuck em up for sale when im done.

News: I have replaced the rear but the inner brake pad of the rear brake is making contact with the inner side of the rotor. Will this be an issue as there is a little friction? And how can I overcome it...

crzydood17

Flex the brake a few times and let the caliper adjust, then let it wear a bit and you should be okay.

Update :O

All together, took a while. Needs a clean, will use the old black grips (red is a bit much). Might paint it all black, not sure.

Question, how to set the Koso shift light?

I am still scrubbing in the tires and it is wet but.. Very happy, stops like I hit a wall (stoppies in the damp :) )and feel much nicer with the larger rear, new shock and new front.

Thanks to Ben from Extreme Creations for helping me out a bit.

Ok, sorted the shift light. Settings button pressed 7 times.

Update: Took it out again, love the brakes so much. It stops better than I had hoped, consistent and linear pressure, the tires are such a huge leap forward from even the Sport Demons. I hope to track it in the next few weeks but first I will need to take all the fairings and other bling off it. Putting the Koso on the handbars aids me in this as I do not need to find a place for it when I do track it. I might need to take it to the mates dyno as I wish to get the jetting just right.

I know ill get asked why not track the zx, but to find the limit on a zx on the track you would need to be doing stupid speeds. That thing can eat any of the litre bikes ( with a couple of mods) and it is just a bit heavy to lug around. I was at the shop earlier and being built is a turbo + muzzy zx12, they are aiming for 450+ rwhp and are not even going to extend the swingarm? Crazy mofos.

Almost time to thin the spare parts pool. Soon to be sold are:

- ASV levers with perches, the ones from the first page of this thread. The ones on the bike now are shorty GSXR1000 ones with 07 gixer perches. I may sell the brake perch/lever/ss brake line and front brake with EBC pads as one ready to bolt on.

- SM Type II Bars

- GS Gauges with upgraded LED's (mods 100% working) great condition

- Screaming Demon Slip on exhaust

- 07 rear wheel

- 110/60 and 140/70 sport demon 80%

- Front EBC wave rotor + rear EBC rotor

- 07 GS front Forks with progressive springs

- Kat 750 rear shock, bolt on for newer GS's

- 07 Triple tree and top clamp

- Rear brake torque arm

- 1997 GSX750F front wheel (silver) with a shaZam! tire

+ other parts I cannot remember (jets, controls, grips)

Looks like I will keep the ZX12 stock(ish)

A Cowl tech one that had been passed around to a few members. I would not buy from them, apparently they are a little dodgy (the service) from what I have read.

When i read that name red flag's popped up. I have read the story's on them. Be nice if there was another company who made seat cowls for these bikes. To bad i cant do fiberglass or i would making these things left and right. Wonder if there is any other bikes cowls that work gs500's.

There was a thread not too long ago about a cowl from a Honda that works. I have one (not one the bike yet) and it fits fairly well.
