Should I buy new bike (fz8) or learn hang gliding

Buy FZ8
Learn Hang Gliding

I have a huge dilemma and I do not know what do to.

I had my GS since 2006 and it served me well. I generally like the bike and all but I have not been happy with comfort on 200+ miles rides. I was thinking about an upgrade on and off and it seems like now is the right time, BUT recently I got really interested in Hang Gliding... I would love to take classes in order to get the certificate allowing me to fly solo. Just the thought of getting off the ground and flying gives me chills of excitement...  :thumb:

I can't afford both so I have to make a decision. I can either get new bike (AFTER I sell GS) or I can keep GS and learn fun new thing which is Hang Gliding and probably even buy my own equipment.

What would you do if you were in similar situation? New bike or new sport/adventure?

PS. Please don't make it flame war about bike upgrades, dangers of hang gliding/motorcycling, inability to handle bigger bike... etc. It is not the point of this thread. Thank you!

Wow. Nice dilemma. Very personal decision, I think. I suppose if it was me I would keep the GS and go flying!

+1, Paulcet.

You said yourself that you like the GS 'in general'.
If your only letdown is comfort on longer trips, the only question to ask is 'How often do you ride for 200+ miles?'

If the answer is 'not that often', go for the hangliding.
If it's 'often enough to really bother me', than I'd go for the bike.

It's nice to have dreams, you can still get a bike and start hangliding in the future.

Keep the GS. You can use it nearly every day.
Then take lessons for some hang gliding.
Now you have both.

Then you strap the glider to the GS and ride off a cliff ---- now you are riding AND gliding at the same time!

Do both.

m_melen

Go gliding. I havent tried it, but if it's anything like sky diving then you'll love it

hang gliding for sure.........

I've been a sailplane pilot for 30 years...most fun ever.........

GS is fun to but I gotta say a distant second to flying

keep GS and go fly. You only live once so explore everything and live your life.

Edit: except drugs, robbing people, killing etc etc of course don't try those :embarrassed:

We fly out of Wurtsboro, just a few miles south of Ellenville.........But we fly by the hang gliders all the time....

Part of the reason I got into motorcycles is because of my long commute from central NJ up to Wurtsboro, NY, on weekends.  160 miles round trip...great roads.....
