dying while running problems

Hey guys. So I bought my 95 gs500e a few months back.  It was barely running. We did what we could and then ended up taking it to our local bike shop. They cleaned the carbs and made sure it wad in working order. The bike hadbbeen sitting for a while. I got the bike back. Ran perfect. Now I'm having a problem with it wanting to die as I throttle up. Any one have any ideas for a begginer like me? I'be done plenty of wrenching on car. but don't know where to start here. I'm thinking no spark. It sounds like its drowning itself out. But I'm not sure

Pull the spark plugs, and check them for color or signs of fouling.  That should give you something a little more objective to go by, and give some direction.

Another easy thing to check would be the float height.  Use a piece of clear tubing connected to the carb drain, bend it upwards in a U-shape, place the petcock in prime, and open the carb drain screw.  The gas level in the tube should be level with the carb bowl gasket surface.  Do this to both carbs.  If too high, you know to the problem deals with the carbs... if right on, then you know to look elsewhere, such as choke or throttle cables, spark, etc...

Thanks for the advice. Im waiting on getting my taxes back. It also has a yosh slip on but hasnt been rejetted, also has stock air filter. So i plan on getting some new jets any advice? And a k&n filter. Also im going to get her a new battery since i figure its older than it should be.  I'm also thinking of going through and replacing all of my vacuum lines. A guy from another forum told me it was a good idea to switch my springs out for some Sonics. And I'm looking into that. Also I really want to strip it down and powdercoat the frame black. Along with painting the plastics and tank. This teal color is starting to get to me haha. How hard would it be to disassemble and reassemble? Here's a pic of her.

A jet in the carbs may have gotten dirty. as you throttle up, you are starved for fuel.

And as mentioned, check the plugs. Look in the air intakes inside the air box. Look to see if one carb is spilling gas into the air box. If one is, it might be a stuck float needle and it is flooding.

In it mentions they have one additional book just on carbs.
In reading it I find that many people may have problems if the tiny air passages from the front of the carb to the jets get clogged. Those little air passages let in tiny amounts of air to help atomize the fuel from the jets. That's one reason the pilot jets have little holes in them and are a long shaft - are goes around it to help mix furl with air at low speeds.
know everyone thinks about jets being clean. I never hear anyone talk about the air passages.

Hmm good thing to take note of. I think I'm gonna strip her down and blast and paint the frame and wheels and the things that can deal with the oven temp before summer. I have to take the tank to get chem stripped so it also dufeses the gas. So it doesnt go boom in our oven. I'm thinking a low gloss black. And Idk what I want to paint the plastics. Maybe white. I'm not sure.

I just ordered the companion book "Motorcycle Fuel Systems Handbook". It has a chapter on fault finding. That should be helpful.

I was reading it and found that the tiny air passages are very important. No one ever talks about those. I'll have the second book Friday and will spend evenings reading it. I may learn to enjoy working on carbs. Good retirement job?

Then I got in an original 1996 GS500 owners manual (local CL ad $10 and worth it).
So many questions asked here are answered in the book (I have the 2009 but this came in today to I refreshed myself). It has 87 octave gas. What oil. How to wash. How to store a bike. maybe an owners manual should be available?

What confuses me is the picture of where things are located looks different. Well, it looks like what I built but not what was sold in the US.
Euro bars? Adjustable fork caps?

Haha yeah those bars are nothing like the stock one on mine. And I also have no adjustable fork caps. Lucky euro's. Man waiting for taxes sucks. I'm definitely going to make this bike mine. I'll make sure to post up in the build/ project section once I get going. Uff :/ I wish I had the cash to rip into her now.

I know it's your bike and your decision but that paint looks perfect!  A black frame, white wheels, & teal pieces is a sick combination (to me at least).  Find another tank and plastics to paint.  Maybe the left side and trashed and you need to paint it? 

Either way, welcome to the forum - it's a great resource.  The bike is a blast.

The other side has a few very noticeable scratches. I want this thing to look new. Also the side shown has scratches that are not seen in the photo. You have to be close. And I like my equipment to run cherry and look excellent.

I wish you were in Seattle. I love friends coming over who love to wrench. We could make her dark blue. Or red. Or red with pink squiggles. I think I have one more complete set but can't remember the color. There is an orange set that was painted and needs repainting. If Five likes the teal, and all of you were here, we could do one massive sex change on a bunch of bikes all at once. Every bike would leave looking different and the total cost would be $0.00.

Haha. I dont think I'd trade. Just want to do some body work. I lived in Seattle when I was young. The weather is way nicer for riding down here :)
