im from the uk, anyways i cant seem to find a good aftermarket exhaust, well mainly a link pipe and loud silencer i have a stainless steel front pipe

anybody else have this issue

my option at the moment is to make a custom link pipe and fit it to a slip on

Do you have an idea of what kind of exh you want? Like a brand of manufacture? I have Yoshimuras on mine. They seem to be fairly popular

Motad is from the UK.

Really nice exhaust. I had one shipped to me in Washington state.

Oh, and Motad meets UK noise requirements so with it you would be legal.

Joehanson70

i have a motad one on atm i dunno a friend of mine has a sv 650, and when im out i cant even hear my motad exhaust from the sound off his micron

just anything i guess just a little louder

adidasguy

It is hard for us over here that beat you in that war back in 1770 something  to suggest an exhaust that would be legal over there.
You have strict noise laws. Here there are bikes I can hear 10 blocks away. Some people wear ear plugs riding because their bike is so loud.

I found a good forum in your area that might give good suggestions on what you can do if you want it louder and still pass inspection.

Alternatively, I believe there's still a UK-based GS500 forum...they might have a few suggestions that are more workable on your half of the globe. Just use them for their ideas and come back to us. :icon_mrgreen:

The PO is in the UK. Not an issue of how to install or what is easy to install. There is the legal issue of noise which is very strict in Europe. Any exhaust is easy: 4 header bolts and one bolt at the right passenger peg. He wants more noise, but still has to be legal and not get tagged for illegal equipment or fail an inspection.

Op didn't seem to care about legal or proper performance either.  Just wants loud from my understanding.

ended up going to beowulf its a exhaust company near where i live

hes going to make me a link pipe up so i will buy some sort of short silencer off ebay

should be a good task for the coming months

think in the uk your aloud upto 95 db but if you get pulled over by a police officer having a bad day he could quite easily say something

£95 or about $150
I paid £316 = $471.

I'm thinking of getting one for the EX500. It has a Muzzy. I understand it is LOUD but haven't heard the bike run yet. I like quiet bikes. All exhausts in the US are really loud. (Jardine, V&H, Yoshi, etc.)

+1

I think the OP has made very clear what he wants.  I think it's his choice to decide how strictly he wants to adhere to rule of law.

P.S. - Congrats OP!  Let us know how you like that Beowulf can.  I heard a pair fitted to an Aprilia Shiver once...sounded pretty good.

I actually think the stock is pretty quiet, but would like a little more sporty sound i guess what I'm thinking at idle then it gives.

load is annoying. I had a guy on a Harley fly up behind me when i was putting alone at 60mph(heard him behind me reving). His slow pass annoyed me enough i wanted to follow and confront him but had to get back to work(I mean his bike had no get up and go at all). Plus the idiot passed me in a no pass zone/blind hill, so in my mind he risked both our lives with his stupidity (plus he had no gear what so ever other then leather boots  ).

jacob heard all my bikes today. He can give you his impression of Motad versus stock versus V&H.

I plan to put Motad on the Husky bike. I find it quiet, but a deeper and richer sound than stock.

In the end you get the exhaust you want that will get you in the least amount of trouble with cops and neighbors.

vapporel

I have mounted Yoshimura tri-oval without the silencer, in Mexico don't exist rules about the noise. In my expirience very good performance and sound..... And very easy to install..........
