I was p1ssed off the other month a the cost of motorcycle oil. Usually $50 - $60 can get you a half decent 4 liter semi synthetic. I had a look around the auto stores and discovered the Penrite full synthetic oils say on the back that they can be used in motorcycles with a wet clutch. I started using the 10/tenths racing 10w-40w at about $68 for 5 liters for my Ducati. I then discovered one called Penrite Everyday Full Synthetic 10w-40w for $49 and switched to that and recently and tried it in the GS. Gear changes are so much smoother and I can push it around the garage when it is cold no hassles. I just thought I would share in case a few of you out there shared my thoughts on motorcycle oil prices. You are getting 1 liter more of a better oil for basically the same price. Go figure

I have seen it at SCA and Repco so far. Notice it says it is Jaso MA rated and suitable for four stroke motorcycles with a wet clutch.

In fact I'll be buying another bottle tomorrow to fill 'er up... service time!

That's a much better deal on the Penrite though compared with motorcycle specific oil!

Last service I put in Shell Advance SX 10w40 motorcycle oil which is almost twice the price for only 4 litres. It got dirtier much quicker than the diesel oil and gear changes aren't quite as good (not a lot of difference though). Pushing around the garage is no hassle with either...

Not sure I'd run the diesel oil in a modern Ducati though

Actually I was just trying to highlight that motorcycle oils are ridiculously over priced typically... 

The Penrite 40-70 is magic stuff when you've gotta unload that car with the farked oilpressure. Beautifuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuul.

Normally i use Castrol Active 4T(mineral oil) but Penrite Full Synthetic Oil is on special at the mo.
I'll try it cos i like the idea of 5L fully synthetic oil & at a descent cost.

Actually I should've come back to this thread a while back...

I have since discovered that our diesel oils here in Aus are a bit lacking in Zinc whereas the ones the US guys use have extra Zinc, so the detergents that are great in combination with the Zinc are potentially going to cause me some grief down the track...

Next oil change I'll be giving the Penrite Every Day synthetic a try
