So, I'm seeing this girl. She's nice, pretty, got all the right bits in the right places, and nothing where she shouldn't. Good specimen. She has a 2 year old Daughter. Daughter has taken an interest in my GS, she's said its "Cool" and "Pretty", so I assume she likes the look. (In 20 years maybe she'll have one of her own? It might be on a plinth in a museum, but anyway.)

Daughter has dickhead for a father. Not content to be outdone by me letting the daughter hang around while I fettle with the GS in preparation of getting it blue slipped and roadworthy, he goes out and buys her a dirt bike. He has one, she's never said his bike is "cool" or "pretty", so obviously I'm trying to outdo him. He spends 5 grand on the dirt bike for her.

Mother asks Dickhead "What about a helmet and stuff? Won't she need that?" The response; "Nah, f%$k it, she's only gonna grow out of it. She'll be right." I confront him about it, since apparently I care more about his daughters well being then he does. He proceeds to tell me "You don't know shaZam! about dirt bikes, you don't know shaZam! about riding, and I'll be damned if I'm going to take advice from you!"

So right now, the motorcyclist inside me turning about, frothing at the teeth, and wants to punch this moron right in the everything. How can one person be so friggin' stupid? How can you honestly think to yourself, "Hmmm, I'm gonna buy my little girl a $5000 crotch rocket, but not even bother to buy a f%$king helmet or any protection for her because she will grow out of it." Kids grow out of prosthetic limbs as well, but apparently that's a problem for future Dickhead, not present Dickhead.

We have all seen the damage that can happen from just a low speed ditch. My old man nearly lost his leg coming a cropper off his RD350 when I was 3 months old. The daughter is 2 years old for Christs sake! One slip, one mistaken turn, and then I don't even want to think about it This idiot HIMSELF rides a dirt bike, and guess what he has? Every conceivable piece of gear imaginable for his own protection.

I'm sorry, I just needed to vent. Currently looking for whatever gear I can get for a 2 year old if, god forbid, she does wipe out on the bike when she rides it. Anyone else heard of anything this insane or moronic, or am I just really lucky to have met someone with 2 brain cells that are fighting for supremacy?

You may have to let Mother handle this one. Dickhead isn't going to listen to you, and he certainly thinks you have no say in the matter. But she certainly does!

Do they even make a helmet for someone that small? Most 2year old's I've know can't ride a bicycle let alone a dirt bike. I would just get  her myself and give it to her and explain how important it is to always wear one regardless of what her father tells her.

aye. they do make childs helmets, but damn a 2yo wtfhard enough to walk let alone ride. let alone ride motorised

Get a helmet, a least a bicycle and her mother takes it to her father and makes sure they will use it.
He is a frickin retarded,  for sure. But understand that in his position, one would not be very tolerant to anything coming from daughter mother boyfriend, specially knowing that his little girl likes his bike better!! 

Also, keep in mind that a 2 years old neck isn't very strong, and is prone to injury...

I was at a swap meet in North Central Ohio.  Saw a guy with no shirt on riding a Honda CT70 carrying a 6 month old with no gear going about 20MPH.

I agree, some people need to grow up. I, myself, could handle this in an entirely different perspective. I would attempt to make friends with him, if he wasn't so damn aggressive towards me. Maybe he'll calm down in time. All I care about at this point is that she is safe, and that's mums main concern as well.

I managed to pick up some pieces that will fit her, helmet, gloves, neckbrace, boots, shin and knee, elbow guards and chestplate, about 600 all up. A bit of a trial to find stuff that would fit, but well worth the time and effort. I don't know if I got ripped off or not, and at this point I don't care. I won't be going out there for the maiden trip on the bike, since I'm not welcome on the fathers property, but I'll be getting her geared up before she goes out for her first ride.

As for "pulling parts off the bike and saying it's broken", not an option. One; I don't want to be a vindictive jerk about it, that'll only escalate the issue, two; Bike won't be at my house, it will be at her fathers place, well out of my reach, and three; he has a gun, and has stated isn't afraid to use it. I like my organs intact and reasonably pure and healthy, not full of bird shot.

As much as I disagree with the decision, I'm not the childs father, my opinion doesn't matter to her father, and as such whatever he chooses to do with her is his business, and he doesn't seem to care about her mother's opinion either. But at least I can do something to protect her, as it's not going to be her father that deals with the aftermath, it'll be her mother that does.

As for what bike he got for 5k, I have absolutely no idea. I haven't seen it, we have dealers within 30 minutes drive that sell all the makes and models, so I can't narrow it down. I suspect a Honda, since thats what he has. He wouldn't by a Suzuki, cause thats what I have.

So, after some careful questioning by the mother, turns out it's a Yamaha PW50 (Pee Wee). My cousin had one when I was 5, and I remember cruising around on one. Daughter is closer to 3 than 2, but still...2. And I can't see dad getting on and 2uping on it.

Going out on a limb here, but why don't you call him and invite him out for a few beers.  Lay down that you have a common interest with the child etc... and motorcycles.  Tell him you know he is a good guy (even if you don't think so), and you think you could do more as friends than enemies/competitors.  Start inviting him to family cookouts, tell him you want him to be part of the family as he is.  This tactic may work.

You may be shocked that he will change his attitude.  If not you tried.  But don't play into petty bickering and keeping up with the Jones'.  That is counterproductive.

i used to ride the pw50's thru the halls @ mmi. htey kinda hated me for that. but wed have informal races on em. a 2-3yo COULD grow into that. and use it for a while. but stlil a helmet at least. also if they dont make protective wear that small, soccer shin guards ( or hockey)  could suffice @ slow speeds
