We have 2 types of clutch cables?

Going through parts, it seems we have 2 different clutch cables.
First I saw one with a 90* bend on Quin. I thought it was from some other bike.
Tonight, going through stuff and a number of clutch covers WITH a cable still on them, I found quite a few clutch cables with a 90* bend as opposed to the 45* bend we all talk about. and the 45* is why we have problems swapping out perches without changing the cable to a custom one with a 90* bend.

So....... what's the story? What years had the 90* bend? When did it switch to the familiar 45* bend?

Since I found so many with a 90* bend, I can only assume they are correct cables. It works fine on Quin (1992 as I recall). also I note that I only found them attached to black clutch covers, so they would have to be older bikes. Silver covers only had 45* bends. Black was a mixture of 90* and 45*.

On my bike with OEM clipons and an SV650 clutch perch I needed a 90 degree cable. I ended up using a SV650 cable that looks similar in angle to what you posted. Maybe? Motion pro number 04-0220

If I recall correctly, my brothers '89 with clipons came with the 90 degree cable but later bikes I have worked on had the 45.

while I did have a couple custom cables made, all these I am finding are from old parts. Some of the cable still attached to old, dirty covers.
