Hey All - I'm cleaning carbs and wondering how on earth do I get the needle with the top ring (see pic) back into the slide. The top ring just kinda sits on there but falls off easily. Is it supposed have some adhesive on it to keep it in place?

It just sits on top. Put the needle through its hole in the slider, hold it up from the bottom with one finger, set the plastic thing on the top, and slowly lower the needle down.

The spring sits on top of that spring seat (what you called the top ring), and it holds it in place once assembled.  Just make sure it sits properly during assembly and you are good.
