Drilled a couple holes in the new handlebars for the controls. On that note, is there a good adhesive I could pick up at an auto parts store (or a grocery store, as the case may be) to glue the grips down?

Zwerski

Rode it to pick up some free avocados from my uncle, then ran out of gas on the freeway and had to be rescued by mu little cousin who brought gas to my on the side of the road. Interesting day.

If you don't have grip glue 3m spray adhesive works good and in a pinch you can use spray paint.

Grab your wife's hair spray and go for it... while wet it helps lubes the grips to get them on, then when it dries it sticks like glue  :thumb:

As for me I got my damaged assessed (they have to wait for panel beating quote) and then stuck 145 main jets in it tonight, test ride during the commute tomorrow.

+1 on the hair spray. Works brilliant.

Thanks! I'll probably pick up a can of the spray adhesive today.

easy fixed!!... no women about.... do the 'helpful & loving hubby routine' down at the supermarket... go in... grab your can of hairspray ... and a box of tampons (explain why in a min) ... go up to the checkout and just act normal... everyone usually thinks you just being a 'top notch' hubby and getting your missus some emergency supplies... all good!!

oh and the tampons... excellent shotgun wadding for 20ga and .410 .. when used with solid slugs...  ;) :icon_twisted:

Took apart, cleaned and lubed the moving parts on the hand brake lever. I can't believe how much of a difference it made and how I put up with a choppy brake lever for so long.

Today we added a european headlight switch, now I can turn them off instead of blinding the neighbors at night.

New squishy bar grips that match.

Bled the rear brakes

Yesterday I got the privilege to ride Adidasguy's bike, Junior. Now that is one nice ride! Really makes me want to add stiffer springs and a fairing to mine!

Test ride with the 145 mains on the commute to work... feels different definitely and maybe a bit meatier up top but hard to tell with almost no opportunity for WOT today.

It definitely richened up the idle circuit too much so would the mixture screws in 3/4 of a turn this avo when I got home and it seemed to idle a little better.

Try again tomorrow... although it's predicted to be wet so probably not much chance for WOT again  :dunno_black:

That looks to me like it would shift in reverse. When you lift the lever, does it downshift?

EDIT: Nevermind! I just realized the shift lever is mounted in reverse of stock! D'oh!

Yeah, that looks like normal shift, but some people do do what you're describing. It's typically called MotoGP Shifting, where you would push down to shift up.

Installed the new handlebars. The spray adhesive sneezed all over my bike, so that'll be fun to get off. >:(

I rolled 5,000 on the odometer today!  I was watching at 4999.2 then again stopped at a light at 4999.6. Get going and watching where I'm going and not the odo, bam it's at 5008 by the time I think of it and look down again. Oh well,  missed it. Gotta get something for my short term memory though! LOL.

peteGS

Turns out I went way too lean on the mixture screws yesterday, lots of embarrassing popping on the way to/from work today when closing the throttle...  And to add insult to injury I forgot to take my little flat blade screwdriver so I could adjust them at work if need be... and then on the way home I managed to need to flip to reserve right at the wrong time while I had the clutch pulled in in traffic and it stalled, and then it didn't want to start... seems my "is it the battery or the starter" issue has come back...

Tonight, trickle charging and trying the 150 mains... definitely a bit stronger with the 145's but not sure if I can go more or not... see how she goes tomorrow!

Fixed the left instrument cluster (choke, high beam, turn signals).

The pin holding it in place on the handlebars was damaged, so it moved around.
Opened it up, added some tape, closed again.     :thumb:
