Cleaned up the glue sneeze. No longer looks like Spiderman got a little too excited all over the left side of my bike. Considered going for a brief ride around town, but the 9-year-old front tire and 7.5-year-old rear tire make me nervous.

Wow, that could explain a little more about the cause of the low side....

RossLH

Yeah...I'm sure that didn't help. I was told the tires were about 3 years old, just one more thing the previous owner blatantly lied about.

Got engine bolted into new gs 500f donor frame. buddy painted rear tail of it from white to black to match rest of bike. Another buddy took it home with him to finish running the wiring etc and it will probably stay there until finished.

Couple of us took advantage of the sun and went to Vashon for the day. We had fun! We'll let you know next time we go.

I guess you haven't seen the other side of the EX500. 6 years ago owner dropped it and parked it - never to ride it again.
One member of the West Seattle GS500 Club that did an unintentional stoppie  :icon_eek: on a CBR600 and really smashed it up,  is now an expert at repairing plastics and painting (due to necessity). He will help fix up this bike's plastics.  :technical:
The front fairing is smooshed to the left and I have a replacement fairing bracket ready to put on. The lower AirTEch cowling has been removed and was really scraped up (scraped all the way through the fiberglass) and is being given away to someone that wants it on the EX-500.com  forum. The Muzzy exhaust is also scraped up/ Being replaced with a new Motad.

New rear tire. So easy to get on the center stand now!

So much easier than I was expecting to install too. Used the ratchet strap off my gas tank (who's laughing now?  :icon_mrgreen:) to widen the tire so it sealed reasonably right off the bat. Noticed that it spread the bead most right under the ratchet. Once I got the air started I removed the strap. 30 psi, ping, one side seated. 40 psi, other side still not seated. Bounced it, no good. Put the ratchet strap back on with the ratchet right over the unseated part. Click-click-ping! all done, without even going over the sidewall pressure.

Pretty easy, even with a broken foot pump. No more Bell brand air pumps for me though, this is the second one I've had a problem with.

Passed 10k miles on my GS finally. Bike is a 90, had about 7200 miles when I bought it and up until about last November. I'm glad it's working ok for now.

I dumped my bike for the first time on left side . It happened in my driveway when I was pulling out of my garage. My Magnolia tree is in full bloom and all the wind had blown the petals all over the place. While I was walking my GS onto the concrete I stepped on a single petal that acted like a banana peel and I lost balance and sloooooowly dropped my bike. Luckily the crash site was grass I only got mud on my mirror and handlebar but my hamstring was in pain. It must have been a site to see when I tried to lift it up only to slip on the banana peel like petals AGAIN and landed on top on the bike and taking a face full of frame.

By the time rode off the driveway I was covered with mud and a fat lip.

We've all been there man, no damage? Jump back on that horse and ride that sucker to show it no pretty flower will take you down.
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

Heh, those pretty flowers sure are trouble makers. No real damage aside for muddy everything and a bruised ego.

slipperymongoose

That's the best news then. It's a given we will all drop our bikes weather we want to or not.

Glad to hear there's no damage  :thumb:

Got a proper test ride in with the Katana boys this morning and looking like my jetting is pretty good if a little too rich with the 150 main jets, might look at dropping the needles half a notch now.

Beautiful weather for a ride too...

Had a loose left rear plastic. Loose at the front. Could see the small rubber washers on the "frame" but just space between them and the plastic. Hmmmm.

Rode down to local suzuki cause parts fiche was no help. They have the same parts diagrams. Seems I can buy the cushion washers but not the bit that goes between them and the plastic - because - it is part of the plastic.

Time for a bit of McGyvering. Anyone know the length of that small piece of plastic - in mm please?
