Also consider that the biker group was not driving with good group riding practices. They should have been properly staggered and in one lane. They should have let cars pass.
My guess is they were squids, out to do wheelies and tricks on the highway with no consideration for anyone else.

the bikers riding staggered i believe is what he meant. 1 lane, lead in left followed by one in right, @ safe distance etc. or i may have that reversed. but all occupying one lane

Not saying that the bikes are right, just saying that the driver is wrong
