Well this is a first and i find it to be some what annoying. I listed one of my motorcycle jackets for sell on ebay and 3 people went to battle over it(total of 17 bids). Well the guy who kept running up the other 2s bids won the auction.. now heres the kicker this guy sent a message "I would like to cancel my purchase. I greatly appreciate it."...... just minutes after auction closing..

Now why would you keep bidding on an item and then opt out of paying, but like i informed him i would reflect this in his feedback of opting out of paying for item he ran up in bids. I give the other guy a second chance offer to take the item, if he does not I will be slightly pissed by this stupidity.

My Ebay rant, feel free to share yours :police:

I have had mostly positive buying and selling experiences on fleebay. However I got sick of all the fees taken by payapal and fleepay. They nickle and dime you to death.  After they changed their listing order to cater to the big sellers (listing them first) I quit them all together. I let them know they will never get another dime from me.

Small time sellers get screwed. They only care about the sellers that bring in the big money for them. Fleebay turned their backs on the people that made them what they are.  Screw'em. Sell your stuff on craigslist. Or better yet sell it to someone here.

Maybe Aussie ebay is different cause Aussies are different people. But my experience has been positive - could also be the type of people who own the types of things I buy.

Recent buy, 99 cents, $6.50 shipping. Shipping was accurate. So they sold a $100 item for 99 cents. Score!

On the flip side, I sent an Ask Seller Question wondering why their slightly used item was $100 more than other similar items in As New condition. Their response was a fullstop  :cookoo:

As for getting nickled and dimed to death... well, you know all the prices going in so I don't see what the issue is. Don't like the charges, don't list in the first place.  :dunno_black:

As for you experience wayne242, that is just plain odd. But it is a good way to see how high someone is willing to go on an item, if you have something similar for sale elsewhere.

Well i cant complain to much, I give the next highest bidder a second chance offer and he took it (he was only $1 less then winner). The downside is the next in line only had 1 feedback, but it was positive and he bought motorcycle gloves so that eased the mind.(normal i have listings set to 10+ positive feedback).

Ebay owns paypal and is why the fees are set up for maximum profit between the 2. You can expect to lose a couple dollars off item sold to ebay, but pretty much ebay does all the work for you. So i don't mind paying a few bucks for advertising an item. I sold the jacket for for $20 more then what i had it listed on craigslist for a month for OBO. Ebay wins that match. Plus I don't have to wast my time taking it to show some one are wait for them to show up(if they show).

Only thing craigslist as over ebay is that its easier to hide profits from the IRS.

Anyhow my rant was more are less with the buyer himself which i cant leave negative feedback to(as positive, report, wait to leave feedback as options).

Looks like we have a few ePay shills in the ranks. I can't figure why people like to get bend over with no lube by eBay :icon_lol: Joking

I think I mentioned that I don't use them anymore. Well, that's a lie. I look stuff up to see what is selling for. Then I buy/sell elsewhere. Until they make you join just to window shop, I'll keep using them to save myself a buck or two, at their expense. I make it a point not to spend my money with a company that  takes advantage of people for profit. In my business, when I provide a service to someone I make my first priority the customer no matter what. I expect the same from people who take my money. :thumb:

i had tweo ebay accounts. NO i did not shill bid ;) but i sold a 1921 14k swiss pocket watch which was my great grandfathers. sold it for my dad. got hit with fees 3 times. a listing fee, a fee upon sale? and a final value fee. which ive not paid yet. pending clarification. seems getting feed twice upon auction ending, seems weird. so i use my backup acct. which ebay would find easily enough since both use same paypAL lol but a year now and theyve not.

If you want to sell something online expect to receive payment first then ship. It's that simple. I buy stuff from messages boards all the time. I don't use ePay. I offer to send the seller cash fist and it always works out. I think people are shocked that I'm willing to send money in the mail first. It's all about trust. If someone tries to stiff me I'll report them as mail fraud. It's a federal offense. It happened to me one time and I advised the seller I would report them and with the online correspondence I had as proof it was a non issue. The seller sent me my item.

most of egay is paypal only now. i guess people want money now. not later. id rather do a M.o or cash at times myself. or i forget the term, if as a buyer you send hte money it is held that firm sends mail to seller advising that theyve got the money, then item is sent, and money is released to seller. escrow i believe it is called.

Well I don't mind fees as the stuff sells for more then i could sell it for locally, so still pure profit if you start the bidding around what you want for it.

You can take paypal option off and put credit card etc as payment if you wanted, its just paypal is more simple and easier to verify. You can also have up to 3 ebay accounts tied to same paypal which is odd and seems Ebay is allowing sellers to use other account to run bids up.

Anyhow i Know they charge you final value fee based on price item sells for(shouldn't be more then a few bucks) and another fee i cant remember, but its not much. (then some times you get a listing fee if buy it now for more then $60 which is like 50 cent).

had the listing fee being almost a thou plus auction ( actually a bin and OBO at first then a 99cent opener with reserve watch case had almost 2oz of 14k movement was flawless oiled and all ;) anyhoo original listing fee  was IIRC $21 ( wiht pics had arseloads of pics like this)

iirc was 15 pics, anyhoo got hit at end with a 60 dollar charge on first auction, then an 84 dollar charge when i accepted a $912 offer guy swore up and down it was going into his collection ( in california . Gilroy as i recall) swore he wouldnt scrap it. which to me i took peace in. cause i can run the number on it and trace its only owner ( family since 1921) anyhoo sorry bout long winded reply. i need to get ahold of ebay and resurrect my old acct over 100fb just gotta pay them the 84 and be done with it lol i guess

I never read into it etc as i normal end up owing around $30 fees when i get a few items to sell (I list like 4-5 at a time). I'm at around 20ish in fees owed right now. I think its like $1 per $10 made are somewhere around that mark. I sell stuff on ebay to fund projects mostly. What even i start the opening bid at is what i want for an item or $10-20 less then i want. As always worked out well for me.
