Finally bit the bullet on Wednesday night... measured the vacuum holes to be 1.79mm:

Had a look at what drill bits I had available and the one that seemed to give a "sensible" enlargement was a 3/32 bit:

Now a bit larger:

Haven't test ridden yet due to lack of time, so will see how she goes on the commute tomorrow...

Washed the bikes today.  Changed oil last week.

Got the replacement GS titled etc today, but i had to get it inspected by the sheriff's office first? Anyone had this happen? They said since i used the engine and few other small parts off a wrecked one it had to be inspected(to make sure not stolen  )? I thought the frame was the only thing that mattered(like correct vin to title). Inspection was $25.

So that was my headache of a day :police:

Ohio has inspections on out-of-state bikes and bikes that are trying to be "cleared" when the titles are trashed.

That's all I know about inspections...

The infamous World Famous Suzuki Stevo visited the West Seattle Bike Cave!

This will be me in a year.  Mark my word.  OH will be in Washington.

Took off the cover, checked the fluids, pumped up the tires, and went for a ride.  WOW !  It was great to be back in the saddle !!

apologies for the atrocious white balance and so on.. and it wasnt today... it was couple days ago... but.. Addy's staino chain guard!! .. got at least another 850rpm onto the redline from that!!

plus the superchrome heel guards i bought off Addy who bought them from the UK ..  :thumb: reckon these give me at least .7g more cornering downforce in the lateral plane!!  ;)

note on the heelguards.. they are nice!! .. but not as thick as the stock ones nor as 'shaped' .. its only a minor difference but i can feel it through my boots... the angle of rest is slightly different... not bad or uncomfortable... just different... :thumb:

i'll do some better shots with the DSLR when i get a chance and remember

peteGS

Well they look good Janx, gotta be enough to make your claims accurate  :thumb:

I reckon my enlarged slide vacuum holes are workin' like a charm... general consensus is I can go bigger though...

Fired it up the other week, just to wake it up from the winter slumber.  The tires are dryrotting so I won't be riding until my new Avons come in.  But while I'm waiting for those I'm checking the valve clearances as I've never done it.  Exhausts were both at .04mm, but intakes were < .04mm, so everything is getting smaller shims.

Hopefully I'll be riding in a week or two with a nicely tuned engine and new rubber!

Picked up my bike from the repair shop yesterday! I got a new chain, new rear brakes, and also had the carbs cleaned and synced. I'm usually a DIY guy but my temporary inspection tag only lasts for 10 days and this stuff seemed way over my head. Next time I'll be doing it myself and saving the labor fee!

On my way home from work, I hear a loud POP with a noticeable drag from the rear wheel.  Sensing a flat tire, I pull over immediately.

The bolt holding the rear caliper to the long metal bar came off...you know, the brake torque arm thingie.  Not quite sure how that happened.

Limp home.  MIRACULOUSLY had another bolt.  Install, and good as new.

Yeh, had that happen before. Chewed out the side  of my muffler too. Thank god for zip ties.

Took Phenix to Vashon. Showing BrianRC around on his newly restored Quin and Oly on his Ninja 250.
What could be better?

1. Meet at Bike Cave and check oil, tires, etc.
2. Ferry ride to Vashon. LONG LONG line of cars as one of the 3 boats was out of commission today. Didn't matter as bikes go to the head of the line!
3. Hour and a half of twisties and scenery
4. Lunch with superb key lime pie
5. Wine tasting at Palouse Winery. Were treated to some braized lamb and other foods.
6. Ferry ride home to Bike Cave
7. Olly did oil change to his Ninja and oiled chain. BrianRC and I put brake light modulators in Phenix and Quin.
8. Shot air guns
9. Cracked open a bottle of wonderful Malbec wine from Palouse Winery
10. and that was our day today.

What could be better?

It was a very low tide when we did a photo stop

Gave her a wash yesterday, polish tonight, and went up to 3mm diameter holes for the vacuum slides. See how she goes tomorrow...

Changed the oil and oil filter, drained the carbs and then all of the gas, changed the gas filters, put fresh(not stale) gas in it, and put a brand new battery in her! :D
