I said I wouldn't, but I it was too good, and all I had to do is say yes!

My phone rang.  Brian said, "Bill, you gotta come over here and see this!  I have the bike for you!"  He wasn't kidding.  If you look-up a red 1979 GS1000L you'll see it.  It has 8,300 miles on it and the factory pipes are mint other than some amber color near the heads, which would be expected.  It runs just like it's supposed to.  I was riding when bikes like this were new.  The whole original exhaust system is without rust or holes, amazing.  I uploaded a few pics to flickr, but they're not appearing so screw it.  They probably want me to pay to link to other sites, so forget it.  The bike is in such good shape the pic from the stock factory photo will suffice.  I'm not kidding.  I ordered new tires because the originals are still on it and the front tire is still legal, not that I'd use it.  Even though they show no cracking they're way too old to be safe.  I have thrown some business his way over the past few years but I never expected anything like this.  He dropped a dream bike in my lap for half what it's worth.  He said it was in such good shape he couldn't sell it some random arsehole, so I was chosen as it's caretaker.  Pinch me!
