Onions, tomatoes, eggplant, varieties of hot peppers, peas, sunflowers, squash, and assorted herbs, corn (it is 70 feet long)

Tomorrow: carrots, turnips, tomatillos, more herbs, more onions, artichoke.

I love gardening. I am tempted to ditch the lawn and just make it a garden.  I bet I could grow enough corn and root vegetables to feed myself for a year.

i was wanting to get these planted soon.

but "this" is not gardening weather. stupid groundhog punksey phil doesnt know his as from a hole in the ground..oh wait i guess he does :D

oldmech

things are looking up since my last post of pictures. spring has sprung and the garden is growing,. hows everyone elses.
so far we have...

raspberries are growing

raised bed has lettuce, radishes, and spinach

garlic planted the week of xmas is doing well

one of the 5 cuke beds is coming along.

the first potato broke ground today

and my garden pest, jackson, is on the prowl. :D

got a good laugh out of the girl at the garden center today. was on the gs and no place to really put the 4 pack of squash plant i bought. unzipped my jacket,stuffed them in and rode home.

pliskin

Well your raspberries look just about like mine. Same with the blackberries. That's about it for me so far. I plan to till it this weekend and put some onions in. I'll wait a little while for the tomato, peppers, and melons. Weather forecast shows some near freezing temps in the next few days. Hope you have a good garden year. It's very satisfying to grow and eat your own food. It tastes so much better than that GMO irradiated stuff you get at the store.
Why are you looking here?

yamahonkawazuki

If you want to have fun at a mediocre garden center. go in and ask the person @ counter for cannabis sativa ( youd be surprised how many people would go look for it ( or get quite pissed when they googled it)

Looking good oldmech!! We are realizing how much we are dragging our feet haha. Its out first year/try so I'm not putting any pressure on me, but Jess(my gf) is working pretty hard on it.

I'll get with her and type up some better info on what we have, but for now you'll just get photos and my weak explanation!

Got the bed tilled, and more small rocks removed. Plants are doing well, Jess has transplanted a couple to bigger containers. We also pulled up the, as Jess calls the, head stone looking border/divider. We are looking into doing some sort of small border/edging out of some sort of wood. This style is what i'm picturing, but will do photochops to see if i like it first.

Before we reworked out light station

New light layout

Jess havin fun in the sun

Rain Barrel installation

Cleaning on the side garden, didn't get a photo of it before i pulled some weeds and the chicken wire. Looks 10x better now IMO;

not sure what it is, but looks cool!;

That's all for now, sorry for the lack of info and overload of photos!!

looking good dude! you are not behind on your garden, i just always start mine way early. most times it works out. good idea on the wood border, just dont use pressure treated lumber for it. all the yuckies in it will leech into your soil and plants.
the cool looking plants in the last picture i have seen before, but for the life of me i cannot remeber thier name. all my taters are up now and looking good. will post a picture or two when the downpours stop!

oldmech

rain slowed down enogh for this shot of the spuds from the back porch. glad this isnt snow!

oldmech

hey steezin, emailed good old mom and she says your neat plant neither one of knew what they where are called hens and chicks.
keep up the good work!

Lets keep this thread going. I have almost all my stuff planted. I got my hands on some ghost pepper plants this year. Can't wait to light myself on FIRE! I usually have pretty good luck with peppers and tomatoes. These are from last year. A cantaloupe and some habanero's. I'll gets some pic of this years garden up soon.

These suckers make me sweat just looking at them. If the ghost peppers come in they will take it to another level.
Why are you looking here?

That's a pretty decent crop of habs. They're a real kick in the mouth, but they're delicious enough to make it worth the burn. :cheers:

yamahonkawazuki

damn fresh habs. miss those. and ghost chilis. cant find them. although 2 shots of pepper spray works in place of the ghost chilis... in chili.

most of my peppers do best growing in the late summer and fall? strange.
here is an update on my garden.
broccoli   is starting to produce, should cut some in the next week.

zukes and parsnips are coming along.

planted a bunch of ( hope i spell this right) kalorobi.

the potatoes have gone wild, should harvest them as new spuds in 3-4 weeks or so.

and finnally some sweet potatoes and 10 pounds yukon gold seed followed me home so i just had to till up a new area for them. fencing was a trash day find believe it or not. will leave these guys in till fall and see what size monsters i dig up.

sorry for all the pics, buy what the heck everyone love pics.

steezin_and_wheezin

We want more photos oldmech!! Its looking really great around your place! trash find fencing looks awesome. Would like to grow on the scale you are, but feel i'd be overwhelmed with all the green popping up over there!

I was embarrassed to post more photos of our setup, but we are finally seeing some growth!

Started taking photos to try and make a timeline vid, but struggled to get the cam in the same spot each time. Then I missed a few days so i'd given up. Here' s a couple photos though;

All three of the tomatoes in the ground or showing flowers!

Also we have, i think, 5 more mater plants in portable garden bags/sacks, 3 of which have flower showing. Our broccoli in the garden was eaten by the bastard ground hog :2guns: Wish i could catch that beast, but he's smarter than the last family we Dale Gribble'd up and relocated. Fortunately we have 2 more broccoli in containers on the back porch. Peppers are finally starting to grow a bit more, beans as well. I'll snap a couple photos of those, but we have a while before they look like they're ready to produce. Enjoying ever minute I get out there. A few of our other friends have big ass gardens so we are learning lots from everyone! Can't wait to see some of the fruits.. ehhem veggies of our labor haha
