Hey everyone new member here, been a rider for 30 yrs combination dirt and street, gave up dirt riding when i actually could get places legally on a bike. I'm Dave, some call me Blades, others "Mix" and most people call me "@$$hole".  I (currently) own a 2000 GS500, 85 suzuki madura, 68 honda CL160, 66 honda Cl160(parts to restore bike) 80 yamaha xj550 (long term project) and a couple of scooters. Found this forum while searching fork/front end swaps and shock/swingarm swaps. I'm sure I'll have questions about those in other posts.
Since this is a dedicated forum to the GS, I'll tell ya the low-down about it. I picked it up last fall with 1800 miles on the odometer and a crankcase full of gas for $200. The guy thought it was thrashed totally, and gave it up for dead. He paid cash for it in 2000, rode it one summer, ended up wrecking a scooter and never touched the gs again. After a day of carb rebuilding, some fresh fluids, a battery and some other maintenance, it coughed to life.
Currently its my daily commuter.
Things done: oxford 50 saddle bags, rocket pillow tank bag strapped to passenger seat, handlebar brush guards, rear signals relocated under license plate using a cut up license plate, tank pad, and a sweet cycle gear sticker(it adds 10 hp from what ive been told! lol)

On the "to-do" list Katana front end, shock and rear rim, and everything associated with them. Eventually adding a soupy's lowering kit so that my wife can ride it (its too tall in stock form for her) and if i can devise it, a top clamp built for renthals.

have a good day and ride safe everyone!
