Hi there,

I have an OEM GS500 Suzuki chin fairing I am willing to sell.

I bought it here on the board without mounts, but they can be made from U clamps.
See the board for how others have done this.

It's black and in good condition.   It has scrapes under the front lip, from the previous owner.

I'll sell it for $150 plus shipping.

Thanks,
Trwhouse

Hi back,

No problem.
The Skidmarx fairing isn't as nice as the OEM unit, in the opinion of many.
And these OEM fairings are hard to find.
Good luck man.

I actually have a couple Skidmarx and OEM of cowlings and belly pans.
Unless they recently changed, the Skidmarx are really nice and nearly identical to  OEM.

I do not recall reading anything where members did not like Skidmarx. I wonder who they are?

Trwhouse

Yo Adidas,
What I was saying is that I believe that people prefer the OEM units, from the input I have read here on our site.
That's why people usually seek the OEM fairings.
That's what I meant.
Best wishes,
Trwhouse   :)

OK. as long as you are clear about it.

However, having OEM and Skidmarx in my posession, I can say Skidmarx is the only one that is nearly identical to OEM. Headlight cowling same except different mounting points. Belly pan the same except Skidmarx does not have the piece of screen across the two front openings.

The only other difference is Skidmarx has generic colors, not factory OEM GS500 colors.

The availability of Skidmarx and what seems to be a recent price drop (in the past 2 years) makes prices for OEM drop unless the OEM is new in the box.

Trwhouse

Hi again,

All that being equal, I and many others still prefer OEM.

I like the OEM unit because the screening is cool.

I hope your life has been settling down lately.  :)

Best wishes,

Trying to get things settled down. Air guns have been a stress relief.
FYI: Is this a Skidmarx or OEM headlight cowling?

Skidmarx (and confirmed by them via an email photo). The clue between OEM and Skidmarx is the location of the mounting points. Also the Skidmarx lacks the rubber trim around the inside ring that touches the headlight ring.

Until you actually have them side by side, it is hard to realize that the Skidmarx and OEM are nearly identical. There are many others out there which are far from OEM in look and style (Gimbel for one. Love the seats, but sold off the headlight cowl and belly pan). I was showing BrianRC both of them - side by side - last week. Very hard to tell the difference unless you know what to look for. I would almost guess that Skidmarx made them for Suzuki in Europe. TCP (aka Five Stars) actually made the "E" full fairings and I have found them new in the box with all Suzuki part numbers and TCP labels.

One member recently bought a set from Skidmarx. I forget who.

All the extra headlight cowls and belly pans in the West Seattle Bike Cave have dibs on them by other local riders and 2 up coming bike builds.

I'm just about to order one from Skidmarx's US distributor (sent them an email and they forwarded it on to Dave here in the US). The customer service has been fantastic so far, really good with answering emails. I was quoted $135+35ship to Canada for a blue one, so I assume the $135 within the US is probably correct. I don't think you'll get much cheaper for a piece like this.

Anyone know how close of a match the blue is to the OEM blue? ('01)

I just got mine the other day. About $309 for both belly pan and headlight fairing with shipping. Note that it may take 5-6 weeks. Apparently skidmarx was running behind on orders.
