Hi, guys

The book says that I should use Suzuki Bond No. 1207B, ThreeBond No. TB1207D, or equivalent nonhardening liquid gasket sealant.

Theh question is, what have you used that has worked, and can be easily found?

Thanks

GI JOE

A buddy of mine used permatex on his dirtbike cases. Easily found at an auto store or Wal-Mart. They make almost any gasket you need from hard epoxy to rubbery seals.

I have always used Permatex Ultra Black. Never had any problems.

Suzukibond and Threebond 1207 are an RTV silicon based sealant/adhesive.
Common sense in not very common.

Suzuki like other manufacturers tout their own products first.....Permatex is fine, probably cheaper to.

Thank you all. Bought a Permatex product, made for motorcycles, silicon based RTV black. I'll be closing the cases tonight...

One more question: The book says to apply a thin layer of the silicon sealer. Should it be spread, as with my finger, or should a continuous bead be applied, not spread?

dgyver

I prefer to use the applicator tip form the thin layer. Not sure if the oils in my hand would cause any adhesion issues.
Common sense in not very common.

Just keep in mind that when sealing the case, less is better. You don't want that stuff swimming around in the crankcase.

Thin layer is all you want. You do not want so much that when torquing the two surfaces together is squishes out both sides
