Alright so I recently traded an xbox 360 and 100 bucks for a 92 gs500.  Let's just say the bike has turned into a cluster f- of problems.  Besides the a fair amount of electronics missing, I want to make sure my engine isn't seized before I go off buying other things.  My step dad has raced bikes for a number of years, and he said to take the spark plugs out put it in first and to spin the front sprocket. This seemed to yield nothing ( maybe not enough strength on my part) but I tried spinning it in other gears, and the sprocket does turn on shifts but when the socket is back to normal position it doesn't. A few times I was able to turn the sprocket freely but when I did I expeirenced  a clanking sound while it turned. Any suggestions for me before I go pulling out the engine, tearing it down and blowing my money? The owner did say it wasn't seized  but after checking the oil I'm highly skeptical ( little to none and solidified (I didn't even know oil could do that)). Any help or pointer would be awesome, thanks!

*note* the clanking sound can best be described as gears clanking, almost like a latch falling in and out of groves on a gear ( again first bike, first experiences, excuse my stupidity and lack of knowledge/ terms)

Can you shine a flashlight inside of a spark plug hole? Usually when a motor is seized it's from rusted cylinders. And is the drive chain still hooked up to the rear wheel?

I tried but I couldn't see too much with ml the light I had, and no its not. :/. I can hook it up if I need to tho. Both sprockets are there the chain is just off

remove the right side timing cover (3 screws, round cover). With a 19mm wrench on the timing rotor, can you turn the engine ? (clockwise ONLY!)
That tells you if the engine is seized.
