Looking at the microfiche parts list for the Head, there is no reference number assigned to the cam bearing caps.  Are they available?

They are align-machined with the head. Get a used one, it may work and not bind up, if it does, get another ... you may need to treat it as a break in period after you install a used cap.
Cool.

Cam caps are part of the head, and machined with the head. They cannot be purchase separately from the dealer. If you are having issues with your journals, you should try to repair before you replace.

With that said, I've known a lot of people to get away with buying and running used cam journals. If you go this route, you must absolutely plasti-gauge and/or mic your journals to ensure that the clearances are correct.

The manual didn't say anything about marking their position and orientation on disassembly.  Did I f%$k up?  With all the micro measurements and color coding of the crank and CB shell bearings in ten thousandths of an inch, are the cam journals as precise?

The cam journals are marked A-D and the valves are marked A-D. A goes with A

I can't recall if they are symmetrical or if there is some way to tell which way around to mount them.  Are they indexed beyond the A-D designation?

Hmm. Maybe you misunderstood. There is actually an A, B, C, D stamped on each cam journal and corresponding stamps in the head.

OK, just match letter to letter.  Piece of cake.
