Hello, I am new to this site and I discovered it when I was getting my bike back on the road - I have found it very very informative.
This is my tale:
In 2007 I bought a brand new GS 500F to start my riding career, it was in the Black/Gun Metal finish (I thought it looked pretty sweet)- I loved riding it and had a lot of fun on it, about 6 months after I bought it the graphics on the fairings started peeling off and the machine started to look a little ordinary. I continued to ride it for about 2 years, and by that time most of the graphics had fallen off, I had had some scares on it, and the medications I was on was not conducive to riding. So it was parked in late 2009.

3 years later (around late 2012) I decided to get it back on the road - The most important thing was to get her appearance up to scratch; gone went those clunky indicators front and rear - replaced by leds at the rear, and Pig Spotter 2 mirrors did double duty as indicators and mirrors at the front, that meant the clunky OE mirrors were chucked, a rear LED tail light was installed, the original clocks were chucked and replaced by a Koso RX2N gauge, and a fenderectomy was carried out. Most importantly, she was given a new paint job. She was christened Miss Medication.

During her hibernation some parts had to be replaced, the brake lever had snapped off, the sight glass in the brake master cylinder had decomposed into nothing - I decided that the entire front master cylinder and lever assembly would be ditched and a Brembo RCS 15 unit was installed. I figured that the rubber brake lines had to go and were replaced by HEL stainless steel parts front and rear. Miss Medication received a tune, where a K & N air filter, Denso Irridium sparkplugs, and Motul Fluids were used. Finally Blue Anodised Pro Bolts replaced stock bolts wherever possible.

SHe was unveiled at Summernats 26. Here is what she looked like.

welcome my friend. and you cant beat the bike. ( consider a 15 or 14t front gear if you want more acceleration ;) btw i take it from your user ID the medication for the issues?, im dealing with it myself over a rather traumatic car wreck  almost 3.5 years ago. w/o meds :/ not fun at times with triggers

I love this machine, thanks for the message - yes I called her Miss Medication as I thought it was a funny double entendre - Sometimes I Miss My Medication for PTSD, depression (and a little anxiety disorder) which I have been living with since I was diagnosed with it in 2005. And riding the bike is medication itself. (The sight of the Pin-Up girl might be another entendre ;) ) I decided to call my airbrushing venture PTSD because since it caused me to become medically retired - I might as well dine out on it.  :D

I totally understand where you are coming from

Holy giant pics batman!  Interesting scheme there!  Applause for originality!  Then what happened in the tale?
