reset/problem warning transmitter .. automated... for a substation?....that can also accept a signal to close breakers again... maybe? ...  i figure?

if it is.. i always vaguely wondered about how do they know when something goes boom/pop .. and or how the reset worked... i mean without 'old mate' driving over to poke it with a stick?

Kiwingenuity

Not a circuit breaker - think what else high voltage wires can be used for.. think coat hanger.. car..

Radio Transmitter?

Well - I will give you the title - it is a Power Line Carrier - IE SSB radio that gets a signal jammed down the overhead wires to emerge at the other end.  The round red thing is a line trap (inductor) and there are a few other sundry items required.

I hear they still use these over long distances in Russia - we are finally removing them here..

Can use them for voice services (there is a handset that plugs into the cabinet) or really really low baud rate modems (2400 baud max)

Janx101

... but you said it was a radio transmitter after the photo....  :icon_rolleyes: .. then cods said radio transmitter .. without specifics .. and then....

.. never mind...  :flipoff:

Sorry Janx - really I dont mind if you post something - am expecting to be called out for power related woes here - 4 degrees C outside and gale force winds..

I should stop posting obscure relics that arent seen very often..

EDIT - you did throw about 5 things into a list  :icon_mrgreen:
