Does anyone know what type of katana shock fits the swing-arm on the GS500E? :?   :dunno:    :dunno: Or which would give the best stand-up look to the rear end?

Thats funny. I was about the same post. I am trying to get a Katana shock but I am not real sure of year, or mods.

You must check the authoratative source first, grasshopper:

Pantablo has two well-written sections on it. :thumb:

A B6 shock does fit bit its not as good as a Katana or other...
Katana shocks are great, but be prepared to grind the linkage a little if not long clevise. No big deal, just grind till it fits... The shocks that fit and work great are... Kat 6/7 89 - 03, RF 600, RF 900, B12, GSXR 7/11 88-95 on the 7 and 89-99 on the 11, and maybe some more... Dont recall just now. But the clevise lengths in many are totally variable, and the GS linkage is so loose tolerances... something may fit one bike and not fit another, and a Kat shock form one kat will fit while from another Kat may not... The bikes themselves may have been consistent, but these are all many many years old and the places that have them probably dont have exact model documentaion... and swear up and down its a Kat 6 shock to make a sale. Then turns out its a Kat 7 and has the short clevise. The fact that the 6 and 7 look identical isn't helping either. Played this game for too long to trust anyone, let alone someone who is put to make a buck selling these.

MIght not... the clevise looks like it will fit wihtout grinding, but the shock looks like its massive... very very long and the top diamater is huge to fit wiht the airbox.
